LIAM'S POV
Life has been lighter now that Zaynie is part of it. Our moments, our battles, everything is so valid and, even if it stills hard at some point, feels weightless. This sensation already helps a lot.
In the last few years it was normal for me to hate my birthday date. Even if I have the right to feel like this, it would sound better to bring another meaning. Ariel is not here anymore, but I am. I need to live this life, we don't know when it'll get done, even with this that doesn't have any relation to Zaynie, she helps me to rethink.
Our date at that vegan event was unbearably awesome! You know when you think that if a thing improves, it ruins, but right after you have to correct yourself because there's always space for improvement? This was my sensation.
We ate a lot, a lot of different stuff, sweety and salty, also bittersweet. We sang at karaoke and "found out" that our voices sound pretty harmonic together, 'cause we won 1st place. In quotes 'cause I already knew.
We took a lot of photos, we danced disco, smoked weed and of course, we kissed each other so many times... What about now? Well, now we're inside my car on our way to my sister's house, which is also my parents’ house. Today is the day that Violet, my niece, comes officially. Zaynie and I are very excited to meet her.
"Feel free to turn it louder, if you want." My girlfriend says.
"Sounds good this way. Do you want it louder?"
"No." They shrugs. I'm driving, she's busy taking naps from time to time.
The windows are totally open, the way the wind is passing through the car messes our hair furiously, but it's a great sensation.
"I wanna be forgotten, and I don't wanna be reminded. You say: 'Please don't make this harder'/ No, I won't yet" Zaynie turns the music louder as she starts singing.
"I wanna be beside her, she wanna be admired. You say: 'Please don't make this harder'/ No, I won't yet" They keeps going and I follow too.
That lunch with Safaa was also amazing. We ate outside in nature talking about life, and my hayfever gave me a day off even if we were literally sitting on the grass, and I'm very grateful about this. I mean, later in the same day I started sneezing "with no reason", yeah. At least my sister-in-law wasn't around anymore.
"Can I burn this joint? Or are we coming?"
"Ahm..." I check the GPS. "There are 28 minutes left, you're safe."
"Later you spray something over here." Her soft hand touches my face, and I have to kiss its palm.
This car that we chose, besides being pretty, has a great motor. It's a Volkswagen Golf, yellow as Zaynie's favorite color.
"Whatever, whatever, whatever, whatever happens, don't let go of my hand (Don't let go of my hand)" We sing with Michael Jackson.
"Li." Zaynie passes the joint and I do a drag on while it stills on her fingers. "Do you know how old Violet is?"
"No, I don't." I answer, holding my breath in. "Have no idea."
"Eshhiii! Eshhiii! ... Hatshhiiii!"
"Bless you."
"How?! If she was my niece I would have already filled in the form."
"I prefer to wait and ask her."
"Yeah." She does another drag on. "It makes sense. Could it be better this way to encourage the children's autonomy, huh?"
