Chapter 9: Zhongli Quest I

"We're going to watch something regarding Rex Lapis, right?" Ningguang asked. "Similar to the anemo archon's?"

"Yes." Lynn nodded in agreement. 

"How interesting." Xiao mumbled, curious about what they would learn.  

The scene opened with Lumine and Paimon slowly walking around the Pearl Galley, observing their surroundings when they noticed Zhongli in a table with three other people. Curious, the duo approached them.

"Oh, it's this." Lumine said, sounding sad which caused people to either be wary or curious.

"It seems so." Zhongli agreed, solemn.

"Is it going to be bad?" Heizou asked.

"Not bad, just sad." Paimon stated, further causing many to look wary, especially those who were soft-hearted. 

"Oh? I didn't think I would see you here." Zhongli stated as he stood up from the table, having sensed the two's presence before they could even speak.

"Are these two your friends?" Wanyan, an Archaeologist, asked.

"What a blessing to be friends with different archons." Barbara said, looking at Lumine with slightly praising eyes.

"Indeed." Kaeya agreed. "Not many can say the same or even state they met an archon."

"Hmph," Hu Tao sounded proud. "also me! I'm sure there's no one else who has an archon as their worker."

"True." Xingqiu nodded, still somewhat shock at the fact that their archon was someone he sometimes see and even interact, no matter how brief, whenever he and Chongyun visit Hu Tao.

'I'll be more respectful to him when I see him next time.' he decided.

"Yes, I had the fortune of meeting Lumine not too long ago. They are quite a knowledgeable and talented pair, and a pleasure to be around." Zhongli explained. "Lumine, we were just discussing the history of Rex Lapis. Would you like to listen?"

"...They are discussing the history of Rex Lapis with Rex Lapis himself?" Collei asked before looking shy. "I would have died from shame if I said something incorrectly."

"Same." many agreed. 

"This good sir seems to not appreciate the almighty power of the Lord of Geo. As a professional archaeologist, I am to correct some of his erroneous views." Hanxue, also an Archaeologist, said with a smile as if prideful of the fact he knew more than someone else. In this case, Zhongli.

"...Pfft!" Childe laughed out loud, falling out of his chair as Zhongli sighed before helping the man up. It took some time, considering that Childe couldn't even stand properly. There's no time wasted, though, as there were also many who were laughing at the ridiculous statement.

"He thought he knew more than the geo archon himself? Blasphemy!" someone from Sumeru shouted.

"Shut it, old man, he obviously doesn't know the truth." Tighnari rolled his eyes. 

"I feel bad for him." Ayaka said with pity, seeing as how there were many who was laughing at him for being foolish even though he didn't know the truth.

"I don't." someone from Snezhnaya said. "He should have known not to make such bold statements. Claiming to be a professional or above others when you aren't sure it's the truth is bound to put you in trouble."

"No one knows better than him..." Lumine said but was ignored as the man continued speaking.

"How arrogant." someone from Natlan scoffed. "He doesn't even bother listening to others."
