Breeze Claw padded through the short and dense passage into camp, a fish caught in between her jaw as Pale paw trotted beside her empty pawed as usual. BreezeClaw kept giving the apprentice side glances before an odd smell of blood flowed into her nostrils making her scrunch her nose. Turning to what seemed to be the cause of the smell her eyes fixated on the two lifeless bodies set beside the mouth of the camp. Making us smell such a horrible stench?
"They both died yesterday," a sorrowful and pitiful voice sounded from behind her, she swung her head to the side to see Ebonyfate sat beside her, his ears flat against his head and with a sudden twitch they pinned back as his eyes narrowed. "Blackstar didn't do anything about it, couldn't even question anyone or discuss it with me.." He hissed.
BreezeClaw's now alerted gaze lifted from the two dead bodies and averted to Ebonyfate. "Perhaps there wasn't enough time?Alot of things are going on right now."
"Like what!?" Ebonyfate retarded, "I'm the deputy of this clan, I out of all cats should be informed when lives are lost. I've tried being easy to handle and kept my head down long enough, I'm confronting him today."BreezeClaw's ears pricked at that statement
"No- y-you shouldn't confront him, you can't,"
Ebonyfate's eyes widened at her sudden protest, his ears pricked waiting for her to state a reason. He'll kill you in cold blood, no hesitation. "Do you really think he'll listen to you? I'll talk to him, I am his daughter after all." She took a glance at Palepaw's wide eyed face, her ears lowered his confusion. A hint of frustration could be seen being held back when Ebonyfate gave a slow nod. "Also," He said, "You haven't attended a patrol since you became a warrior which is odd since you always told me patrols were your favourite thing about becoming a warrior." His solemn gaze ached BreezeClaw as she sighed "Well that was when we were apprentices Ebonyfate. Then I got an apprentice the same day I became a warrior, Blackmeadow had her kits and some cats still need help to recover from the battle especially those who lost thier loved ones, there just isn't enough time for that. " She exhaled as Ebonyfate's tailed swished from side to side attentively before pausing to think and averting his gaze back at the green eyed tortoiseshell." Well so has Firemask but I've seen him on countless hunting and border patrols, "He turned his gaze to Palepaw who stared blankly up at him." Palepaw doesn't always have to train at the crack of dawn, she gets tired as well and I'm sure she'd love getting some extra rest-"
"Firemask will train both her and Tallpaw." BreezeClaw's cold and stern voice intervened. Ebonyfate's gaze looked puzzled for a second before nodding. "Tomorrow at dawn, I want to see you there." He said before trotting towards two other warriors. As soon as the black tom left Breezeclaw sighed in frustration, she had been ordered to be on a kill patrol by Cougarstar but if she declined joining the dawn patrol Ebonyfate would get suspicious of her. She tossed the trout at her apprentice's paws, "Take that to the fresh kill pile, once Firemask gets back from training Tallpaw tell him to take you and your brother to practise battle training by the owl-tree," the tortoiseshell ordered. "Yes, Breezeclaw." Palepaw nodded , grabbing the trout and pacing towards the fresh-kill pile. Breezeclaw averted her gaze towards a hollow den, messy and old vines hanging from the mouth of it, barely any sunlight being able to protrude into it. she got to her paws and hesitantly made her way towards it.
"Blackstar?" she poked her head through the mossy vines before bringing herself into the dense hollow which was known as Blackstar's den. "Yes?" a raspy and stern voice questioned from his nest. "It's about Ebonyfate, he wants to confront you." Breezeclaw forced her unervous gaze to face the long furred spotted tom. "About what?" Blackstar's eyes narrowed as his ears pricked in curiosity. "You ignored him once you found the bodies of Crowstarch and Lilacrisk . He should have been the first cat you spoke to about this." Breezeclaw curled her lip, it had been mouse-brained of Blackstar to not put Ebonyfate into account when it came to stuff like this. "Speaking of those two," Blackstar's gaze averted from his paws, "Why did you kill them?" Breezeclaw's eyes widened in slight shock, she hadn't expected to be questioned on that and now that she was she had to make up a lie quickly. "I was told to by Cougarstar. We are currently killing all medicine cats from each clan." She stated, her gaze serious and not hinting anything. "So you killed both of them?" Blackstar asked, his eyes weren't narrow but were hinting to something, something Breezeclaw was puzzled on. "Yes?" Her tone was suddle, posing more of a question than a response. "That's odd, I didn't recognize your scent on Crowstarch's body.
Breezeclaw's eyes widened as he tail began to lash from side to side in shock. That's what he was confused on! Canterhop's rouges smell nothing like me. She thought ,feeling a wave of panic sweep over her. "What are you planning, Breezeclaw?" Blackstar's gave a cold hiss. "I'm not planning anything." She replied bluntly knowing there was nothing to back up her statement she still stood her ground. "You know that there is nothing stopping me from tearing you to shreds. Yet you still decide to go off and what? Get a gang of rouges to commit your dirty work, I'm not an idiot. Sometimes I wonder what Blackmeadow sees in you because all I see is a worthless feisty shecat who can't be loyal to anyone." He paused before curling his lip into a snarl, revealing his dagger sharp teeth. "Not even her." Breezeclaw wanted to claw his skin off at that sentence. She knew she had an unquestionable loyalty towards Blackmeadow, the only cat she was not devoted to was Blackstar.
"I know that you hate me but if you're so smart you would know that Blackmeadow and I are both in lonerclan and both have the same intentions also, me being leader is helping us get closer to our goal. So you can hate me all you want in-fact I hate you just as much but if you try to get rid of me you're going against lonerclan's wishes and you're sabotaging our plan, is that really what you want?" Breezeclaw's eyes were round, her ears pinned against her head. The shecat was stunned to say the least. She hadn't really taken time to think about how Blackstar was actually helping lonerclan and realized how mouse-brained her thoughts really were.
Imagine if I hadn't realise this and let my anger take over and killed him, my muzzle wet and dripping with his blood, my paws drenched and my claws stained red and as I look down at his crimson-stained body I realise what I had just done. I would have felt so much regret. Breezeclaw had to admit, although she hated her father he had a point and she did not want to sabotage lonerclan's plan.
"As for Ebonyfate if he has a problem with me then I'll simply kill him-" "No!" Breezeclaw's yowl interrupted, Ebonyfate may have been loyal to owlclan but he was the only cat the shecat could refer to as her friend. "He- seems useful," "He sounds soft and looks like he's making you soft with him. since when have you flinched at the mention of death?" A hiss sounded from behind them. Breezeclaw twitched her head behind her only to meet the snarling face of Blackmeadow. "I'm telling the truth, he's beaten me in battle training multiple times when we were apprentices!" "So has Firemask and you've never hesitated from suggesting that we kill him. If Ebonyfate is hindering your brutality then he's going to be a problem in fact," The black tortoiseshell retarded before her scowling gaze pinned onto Blackstar. "Why did you make him deputy? You noticed how he has an unquestionable loyalty towards owlclan yet you still decided to make him deputy. I expected Breezeclaw or at least Firemask to be your first options but you disappointed me." Blackstar's fur bristled at her tone. "Ebonyfate makes it easier to have a good relationship with the three other clans. To make it easier to attack them we must have a close bond, making it easier to ,learn their weaknesses." Blackmeadow curled her lip in disapproval. "Well his goody-good attitude is rubbing off on Breezeclaw. I want him dead." With that she strolled past the den, not a care in the world at what she ordered.
Breezeclaw felt the hair on her spine rise in anger. She's just so ignorant sometimes! The shecat hissed beneath her breath only to be fueled when she heard Blackstar's cackles from his nest. She dug her claws into the earth before storming off only to stop when she heard Blackstar yell , "There might be a gathering tonight so I want to see you there!" She didn't respond before padding off
