"That wasn't fair! I was distracted. It doesn't count." Sharppaw huffed, scrambling to her paws and fixing her fur as Cruelpaw chuckled. "You shouldn't be distracted during battle training. What if you were in the middle of war. Saying you're distracted won't change their mind,"Ebonyfate lifted his gaze to Cruelpaw. The shecat swayed her head around, feeling the earth beneath her paws before managing to carefully walk towards the warrior. He gave her a congratulating tail flick before turning to face Snarlingpaw.
"Everything else seems all sorted. I guess it's winner against winner now?" Breezeclaw nodded and nudged the apprentice who grumbled before lifting herself to her paws.
"Alright, three, two, one, go!" The two apprentices sprang at each other. Cruelpaw pricked her ears in attempt to direct herself at her sister, feeling the ground and managing to sense her. She hauled herself at Snarlingpaw only to ram into Lonerpaw as the two came tumbling down. "Hey! Watch where you're going, blinded bat." He hissed, his black and white fur bristling. "Don't say such, Lonerpaw. You know that your sister finds it hard to  navigate where certain cats are yet you still can't hold your tongue." Lonerpaw bit back and only growled, curling his tail. "But she does need to improve. She's been this clumsy ever since she was a kit. You coddling her hasn't helped." Breezeclaw sneered at the tom who lashed his tail. "Then how am I supposed to help her sharpen her skills? I'm not blind and have never met a cat who is." Ebonyfate flicked his tail, studying the apprentice. "Perhaps by showing her that she has to improve? Look, if she bumps into any cat that cat should claw her -" "You're insane! No, never. I don't allow this." Breezeclaw felt a growl escape her throat.

"You're setting your own apprentice up for failure Ebonyfate. If she knows that she'll get clawed if she bumps into anyone then that would raise the stakes for her to improve." I've been a mentor longer that you have. You only just got your first apprentice yet you think you can speak to me like you have moons of experience. She sunk her claws into the ground, gripping and clawing the undergrowth. " You are suggesting that we teach her by, inflicting fear upon her? Is this how you trained your first apprentice?" The hairs on the tom's spine began to raise. "Yes, It was and Palebird is a strong and loyal warrior of Owlclan." Breezeclaw used the tip of her tail to point at Palebird who fixed her posture and gave an awkward smile. "What about Tallpaw? Your first apprentice." Ebonyfate questioned. "Tallpaw was weak and he was going to make Palebird weak thus I decided to give him to Firemask. Someone who had the patience to deal with him. As for why he left Palepaw informed that he was in love with a kittypet and decided to run away to be with him." She replied bluntly.

"But-" "We have somewhere to be right now and we're wasting day light. You should go arrange patrols and Firemask, go get Blackmeadow. We'll be waiting here." Firemask groaned before he leapt to his paws and raced towards camp. "What are you doing that's so urgent?" Ebonyfate asked, his amber eyes narrowed. "Nothing that involves you. You just go back to camp." Breezeclaw turned to speak to Palebird when Ebonyfate hissed. "Actually no. Since this involves my apprentice I think I deserve to know whatever it is that's so important."
"You don't have to be so up in my business all the time. I thought we knew our boundaries, Ebonyfate." The shecat darted. "I'm sorry- I'm just a bit worried of having disloyal warriors, especially after finding out that Horizonsight plotted Hawktalon's death." She plotted his death because he cheated on her. Well deserved if you ask me. "Are you accusing me of being disloyal, love?" Ebonyfate's fur pricked. "Of course not! I'm just worried. Owlstar's rouges are still out there and I'm sure they wouldn't hesitate to cuff you guys." He moved his head forward to sink it into Breezeclaw's shoulder. Her gaze softened at the tom. "It's alright, you're rightfully worried about me but I'm not that weak. You don't have to be so possessive all the time. I can take care of myself," She lapped her tongue over his ears with a purr. "Alright. Sorry, love." He nuzzled her cheek before going on his way. The moment he disappeared into the ferns, Firemask and Blackmeadow appeared.
