Owlstar let out a growl and lunged for her, his claws outstretched. He nearly reached her when suddenly a black blur leaped in the path of his claws. Owlstar felt them tear open the cat's throat before he could stop. The cat fell to the ground as Owlstar staggered awkwardly. He stared at the black tom who turned to face him. The white tom let out a shriek and plunged to the ground, beside the tom who lay beside him. He neared him until his muzzle barely brushed his throat, letting out a gasp at the sight of the huge gash on his throat. "Ebonyfate!" He yowled, pressing his paw against his throat and watching as the red crimson spilled. Breezeclaw struggled to her paws before limping towards him, her gaze petrified. She only made it a few steps before two rouges blocked her path, grinning from ear to ear. She curled her lip into a snarl. It was pointless to attack them now. She only peered above one of their shoulders to see the commotion. Ebonyfate let out a weak cough before muttering, "Owlstar.. Move closer, please." He let out choked coughs. The tom scooted closer to him until his muzzle pressed against his ear. "I'm so sorry-" He let out a screech. Breezeclaw pushed past the two rouges and saw the shocking scene. Owlstar struggled on the ground, a large wound trickling with crimson on his throat. Ebonyfate's claws were stained red with blood as he shot the tom a weak frown, curling his tail. Owlstar began choking on his blood before plunging to the ground, his pale blue eyes growing gray and dull. He gripped the undergrowth with his paws as he desperately tried to hang on to his life but as more crimson poured from the wound he loosened his grip and slowly went limp, blood staining his white fur.

Ebonyfate coughed as he gripped his wound with his paw. Everyone stared at the scene in horror before BreezeClaw hissed. "What are you staring at him for? He's dying, where on earth is Jaymystery?" The black tom leapt from the medicine den as Moonlight and Paleblue gently helped him get to his paws, standing by both his sides to support him as he weakly walked towards the hollow mouth of the medicine den. The moment he disappeared into the den BreezeClaw glared at rouges who were nursing their wounds. A growl rumbled from her throat before she hissed, "What are you doing here? You all lost this battle. Now take this dead body and leave!" Most of them obliged, understanding that this was a miserable defeat whilst others hesitated but eventually got up and started towards the camp exit. Three cats bounded to Owlstar's body, exchanging sad glances before one of them lifted him by the scruff and gently placed his stiff body on the other cat's. The second one came in to help support the third who was struggling under the tom's weight. The rouges slowly cleared up until on Owlclan cats were left.

Silverkit and Flowingkit bounced from the nursery in curiosity. "Mom, mom! Did we win..." Silverkit's voice fell silent at the sight of her mother's corpse laid in in front of her. "No!" She squealed, racing towards her before plunging down. Flowingkit sank her muzzle into her long silver fur, lapping her paw over the large gash on her chest. "Don't just sit there and look, save her!" Silverkit hissed, her tail lashing. "I'm afraid she's dead, Silverkit. She died while protecting her clan however and we hope she is welcomed into crystalclan safely." Pridesound lowered his head in respect for the fallen mother. "She wasn't suppose to fight! Why would you let her fight?" Silverkit scowled, her gray tail now puffed up and bushy in her rage. "It was her decision on whether the wanted to fight or not. There's no use in arguing now. She's already gone and we must accept it." The tom glanced at the kit who's fur only bristled in rage. "I hate you! I hate all of you, you're the reason she died. You should have protected her!" She screeched before hurrying back to the nursery. "She's a tough one." Slitheringserpent sighed. "Can't blame her. Poor thing lost both parents on the same day." Rowanrisk commented before signaling for the tom to help him get the bodies ready for their vigil.

Blackmeadow strutted to Blackmask who grinned, licking some blood from her cheek. "It's been a long time since I've seen you fight. I've been wondering what attracted me to you back when we were mates but now I know." He purred. Blackmeadow shot her head to the side, an embarrassed smile mingled with love on her face. She eventually glanced back at him, her emerald eyes glistening. The shecat rubbed her head against his chest lovingly before facing him.
"I'll be doing it alot more often now that I'm not raising kits." Breezeclaw cringed. She'd never seen her parents so close before. They would usually be insulting each other or complaining about the other. Speaking of mates. Breezeclaw heathed herself from the ground before limping towards the medicine den. She wasn't there for treating however, she was there to check on Ebonyfate. She canned through the huddle of cats lined up. She ignored the hisses and comments, only continuing on until she finally managed to peer into the den. Ebonyfate was laid on a nest with his wound exposed, showing the poultice and cobweb wrapped around, only occasional drops of blooding seeping through the cobweb. "What you did was really brave." Sunbreeze mewed from beside him as she looked through the herbs set on the shelves which were flat rocks shoved into the side of the medicine den. Ebonyfate weakly smiled. "I did it for Breezeclaw, I told her I would make sure Owlstar didn't touch her and I had to keep my word since she's my mate." He muttered. Breezeclaw's gaze softened. "Yeah I wish Firemask was more like that. I feel like we could be great mates if it wasn't for how strange he can be at times. The way he's so afraid of commitment and usually isolates himself. He never opens up too which makes me question his love for me if he's so secretive. " Ebonyfate struggled but managed to lift his head to face her. "Maybe he's just a troubled fella. Give him his own space once in a while and I'm sure he'll feel more relaxed to tell you what's on his mind." Sunbreeze paused before scooping up some yarrow and nodding. "That's enough therapy. Can someone get in? Sunbreeze ask Paleblue to give you some moss to fix up some more nests in here." He ordered before beginning to crush some poppy seeds. "I'm not doing that, Jaymystery." Sunbreeze let out an amused purr. "I didn't come here to be your little apprentice, taking orders and parading around like a kit helping an elder get a taste of everything from the fresh kill pile. I actually came here to help, to be useful." She mewed, her green eyes lit with pride along with a drop of humbleness. Jaymystery rolled his eyes and prodded the poppy over to Ebonyfate. "You can be helpful by grabbing me a mouse but no, you want to be special." He grunted. Breezeclaw took a glance behind her and noticed how everyone now crowded the medicine den. She saw Ebonyfate and now all she needed was some rest. As she started towards the warriors den she spotted Firemask who simply sat in a corner. She began towards him and noticed how he flicked his tail in slight annoyance. "What do you want?" He groaned. "You should treat your mate better." Breezeclaw said bluntly. "What?" Firemask's ears pricked in confusion. "You heard me. Communicate more, she wishes that you did. I overheard it." Firemask's eyes went dull. "Of course you were ease dropping. Plus what would you know about relationships?" Breezeclaw felt an odd tension in his voice. Almost fear.

He's afraid. Breezeclaw smirked. "I'm Ebonyfate's mate and our relationship is doing great." Firemask snorted. "Sure you are, there's no way it's that good if you have to keep so many secrets from him."
"I pay no mind to all that when I'm around him. Oh and I'm in fact with him because I actually love him. I thought you might need to know that because it's clear that you are too." She rubbed her tail against her brother's spine as he sighed. "Sunbreeze is everything I could wish for in a shecat and it pains me to have to lie to her about so much. Just imagine if she found out." He bristled. "Well no matter how much you love her you shouldn't let her get in the way of your true priorities." Breezeclaw said sharply as the tom shook his head. "Of course. My true priorities." He said with a very clear sarcastic tone before getting to his paws and starting towards the camp exit. "I'll be out hunting. Or just sulking in general." He then left, his tail drooping behind him. He looks so miserable nowadays.

Does he feel that guilty about lying to her? Either he's just incredibly clingy or my feelings for Ebonyfate are questionable. My feelings for Ebonyfate are genuine though, right? Mates wouldn't lie to each other like this though. If they did then they would look as miserable as Firemask. But I do love him! He's my mate. I just don't want him to get in the way of everything. If I was one paw away from success but he was in my way then what would I do? I wouldn't kill him.. Would I? That would mean he made me soft. I'm not soft!
