{majority of the story will be in Y/N's pov, but there will be some König pov as well <3}

I enter my new workplace — a spacious, sterile, white laboratory. It seems to have been made into a temporary medical unit, with only one bed in the far corner of the lab.

"You can customize the place however you wish, and if you need something just use the radio," the soldier that was showing me around, said.
"Ok, thank you. I will."
After a beat of awkward silence, the man spoke.
"I'll get going, good luck."
I nodded at him before he left.

I walk up to one of the tables, where some test tubes and glass beakers have been neatly placed.
I begin to rearrange some things to be more easily accessible, as I am a doctor, not a chemist.

After one hour, everything was how I wanted it to be. I look at my work, proud.

I hear a buzz going off, which seems to be coming from the radio.
"Y/N, come to the meeting room, we have some things to discuss," an unknown woman's voice sounded.
I hastily leave the comfort of the lab and go to the meeting room as told.

I knock and hear a quiet "come in" from inside.
I enter the room and see a woman sitting at the end of a very long table, watching me.
I shiver, nervous in the presence of the intimidating woman.
She seems to be in her late 30's, and her clothing suggests she's one of the higher ups.

"You asked for me?"
"Sit down."

I sit down at the other end of the table, waiting for the woman to speak.

"You may call me general Schneider. You were told that you will be working here as a doctor, which is half of the truth," she stands up. She's shorter than me, but her menacing aura fills the room, which makes me feel like I can't breathe.
She slowly walks closer to me as she continues to speak, like a predator surrounding its prey.
"I need you to find out what this chemical is and how to prevent it from killing our own. And make something just as strong if not stronger." She gives me a vial with blood. I saw a lot of these in the lab.

My eyes widen. This is not going to be easy at all.

"Ma'am, with all due respect, I don't think that I can make something like that. I don't make chemical weapons, I'm simply a doctor. I think you've got the wrong person for the job."

I watch as she comes behind me and puts her hands on the chair I'm sitting in. Seems like she's trying to scare me into compliance, and I hate that it's working.

"I think you misheard me, Y/N. I did not ask you if you are capable. I am fully aware of your capabilities, and what you've done in the past. You can play the innocent doctor role all you want, but I can't be fooled."
I frown at her words. Of course she would know.

She leans closer to my ear.
"I suggest you start working on it. I give you one month. If by the end of the month I don't have the drug — you know what will happen."
With that said, she goes back to her seat, a triumphant smirk on her lips.

I clear my throat.

"Yes, ma'am. But I do need to conduct experiments in order to successfully create what you need. I assume you can provide me with some 'test mice'?"

Schneider's smirk gets wider.

"That's the fun part. You can go out into the field and find some on your own! Anyone you want! Isn't that exciting?"

My blood grows cold. Out there? Where people are getting shot dead? Doesn't she need me alive?!

"B... But how... What happens if I die? You can't just send me out there and expect me to survive!" My nerves got the best of me. I should've held my tongue.

Schneider's face morphed into a scowl.
I sink back into my seat.

"Doctor, doctor, doctor. Poor little doctor. So scared for her useless life. What did you expect, coming here? That you will be treated like a princess? That you'll stay in your lab like a good little mouse and do nothing?" Schneider laughs sarcastically.

I mean, that's what doctors do, right? They stay in their office, and hope someone gets hurt so that they can earn a living. Though, I keep that thought to myself. She seems like she'll blow her fuse if I as much as look her in the eye. Bitch is crazy. But who can blame her?

"Here, in the army, we do shit. We don't sit around on our asses waiting for something to happen. If you need something, you will be going and getting it yourself. No one is going to help you, so don't even try to rely on anyone."

I look at her. What's her problem? What is she even talking about?

She collects herself and continues speaking.
"You will be assigned a partner. He'll serve as your bodyguard, as well as an assistant. He'll come over to your lab soon, so you're dismissed."

I nod and get up from my seat.

"By the way, this is classified information. Only a select few know about this. Your bodyguard only knows that you are working on special medicine, and I suggest you keep it that way. It would be a waste to get rid of him." Schneider smiles.

What a cold-hearted bitch.

"Yes, ma'am. Understood," I quickly leave the room.

After I closed the door, my knees gave out and I almost fell, but caught myself using the wall.

What have I gotten myself into...

Again...

(Uh oh, a secret backstory, what could it be??)
