The whole ordeal with Adam left me very tired, so I decided to go back to the cabin and get some sleep. It was getting dark anyway, and the jet lag was finally getting to me.
As I was walking, I saw how beautiful the sky looked, even with the harsh, bright lights of the base. The memory of me and König on that little hill entered my mind, making me smile mindlessly. He's a very cherished friend.
I walk into the cabin and see the lights off. Is König asleep?
I grab a glass of water and drink it. I'm quite hungry also, but there's no food here so I have to wait until breakfast. Bummer.
I walk into our bedroom and see König sleeping soundly. He was turned to the wall, away from me. His sniper mask was nowhere to be found, only a balaclava covering his face.
I go and take a quick shower to wash off the stress. I touch my neck and wince. Has Adam hurt me enough to leave a mark?
I look in the mirror and there it is, a clear, red mark in the shape of a hand on my neck. Dang it. I have to cover it up, otherwise explaining what happened without revealing any details would be a drag.
Turtlenecks will become my best friend these upcoming weeks. Stupid Adam. Stupid Schneider for putting him here with me.After my night routine, I get into bed. Soon after my head hits the pillow, I doze off.
—
A sudden loud knock on the cabin door woke us both up.
I quickly get up from bed to open it, König following, to see one of Alejandro's soldiers.
"Colonel Vargas has radioed us about Hassan's hideout. They're currently traveling towards it. He said you have to get there to do your mission."
Right. I have to find info.
"Got it. We'll be out in 5."
"There is a car ready for you out front."
With that said, he left.I turn to König, who didn't even look at me once before going to get ready. That's a bit strange, but I suppose he's grumpy because he was woken up so suddenly.
We quietly got ready and headed out to the car. König is the driver again, following the coordinates to the location. The ride is quiet for the most part.
"We're getting close."
...
"Are you ready to kick some ass?"
...
"König?"
Again, nothing. What's his problem? Everything was fine before today.
I try to look at him, but he hides his eyes. This makes me mad. As I was about to go off about his attitude, we arrived.Hassan's hideout is kind of in the middle of nowhere, with mountains and trees surrounding the large base. It looks beautiful.
We saw Vargas, Soap and Ghost near a car, Soap waving around a laser for some reason.
We approach the trio quickly to not be seen.
König was as far away from me as possible, which made me even more upset."Hassan is in there. We will be clearing the area. After we get a positive ID on Hassan, you two look for the files or anything of that sort," Ghost spoke in a hushed tone to König and I.
"Yes, sir."
A wave of nervousness hits me. I did this a thousand times, but this time I have a bad feeling. This tension between me and König is not helping, either.
I had multiple special syringes filled with the toxin and a custom knife, while König had his firearm, ready to take down the enemy.The group cleared out the area quite quickly, with help from above. Apparently the American military is on our side.
While me and König were in the back of the group, an enemy suddenly popped up from nowhere and shot at us.
"König, look out!" I tried to push him away but the bullet still grazed him on the waist. At least he wasn't fully shot.
Ghost heard the commotion and swiftly took out the enemy. I came closer to König to check the wound, but he pushed me away.
"Fass mich nicht an." (*don't touch me*)
"König, I'm a doctor, I can help you."
"I don't need your help. Just complete the mission like you're supposed to."The hell is he talking about?
Ghost comes up to us quickly.
"Cut the chit-chat. You," he turns to König, "be on guard. Both of you would be dead if I didn't save your asses. Get a move on."König follows the rest of the group, while me and Ghost are a bit behind.
"What's his deal?"
"I have no clue..."—
We enter the villa to get Hassan while he's trying to run away through the second floor.
"Search the computer!" Ghost yelled out to me while running after Hassan. Soap and Alejandro following.
"Good luck!" Soap says before running after the others.
König decides to stay behind to cover me.I run to the computer, trying to get anything. Idiots didn't even put a password.
As soon as I get into the computer, I hear beeping.
So that's why they didn't put a password.It's a trap.
As soon as I realized this, I turned around, grabbed König's hand and dragged him as far away as possible while radioing the others.
"There's a bomb in the villa! I repeat—"I didn't get to repeat as the bomb blew up, but thankfully me and König were far enough from fatal impact. He covered me with his body, taking the damage from the flying rubble.
~~~
"D-c, -ow c—y?!"
"Doc! How copy?!"
My hearing came back, and I responded to the radio.
"Loud and— ugh, clear. I'm fine," I look down and see König laying on top of me, unconscious, "König is badly wounded, but he's alive."
"Roger that. Get him to the car. The area is clear. We have Hassan." The one I'm talking to is Ghost, his voice calmer than before.
"Solid copy."That won't be easy. I'm way smaller than him, but I'll try my best.
I push him off of me gently, getting up, wobbly on my legs. I grab him by the arm and put it over my shoulder, nearly falling. They're evil for making me do this on my own.
I slowly walk towards the direction of the car, which took me like 6 minutes.
I see the trio, Rudy with them, near a big military helicopter.Soap meets me halfway, getting König off of me. He nearly falls over just as I did.
"Woah, that's a big guy right here."
König groaned, beginning to come to."You're safe, König. Hassan is in custody."
"Gut. Sehr gut." (*good, very good*)Soap takes him to the helicopter and we fly out.
In the helicopter, König sat, a bit hunched over, holding his bleeding waist. We were farther away from the others, having some privacy. I'm sitting in front of him. I can't see him in pain like this, no matter how mad we are at each other. I need to help him.
"König, can I please help you?"
He looked over at me briefly, and then averted his eyes away from mine.
He didn't answer, but lifted his hand from the wound, giving me access.I quickly got up and got to work. I was on my knees in front of him, cleaning the wound as best as I could, but it looks like he'll need stitches. His shirt isn't helping me, only getting in the way.
"You're hurt because of me. I'm sorry, König."
He looked down at me.
"You hurt me."
I hurt him?
"How?"
"I heard what you said. While talking to Adam."Oh.
Oh no.
"König! No, no no no! I didn't mean what I said, I said it to protect you!"
"I don't believe you."
If he doesn't believe me, all I can do now is ask for forgiveness.
"Please, can you forgive me?" I need him to forgive me. I can't lose him."...No."
