I listened to her, trying to show no reaction to what she was saying. She's losing her mind. Or she already did.
"My mother planned on running away with you that night, so I took matters into my own hands. That little candle you knocked over was not nearly enough to set the house aflame," she was spying on me that night?
"I turned on all of the stoves and left a candle burning in the kitchen, far enough to buy me and mother some time to get away. I also lit some curtains here and there while no one saw. But when I tried to get her out of the house, all she could think about was you. She tried to find you to save you, but you were already outside. We didn't know that, though. She searched the whole house, and I had no choice but to leave her. I saw the house blow, with all of the kids and her trapped inside. Only Adam and I got away. When I thought that at least you had died, I saw you beat my father to death. That day I swore. I swore I would make your life a living hell."
I almost feel bad for her.
"We followed you everywhere without you knowing, and we're taken in by the same you were. It took a lot of effort to hide from you. When Adam brought me the vial with your failed experiment that one day, I saw an opportunity, and I took it. I struck a deal with Makarov, and gave him the formula in exchange for power. And later, you know what happened."
So I was called in not because they needed more doctors, but because this crazy bitch wanted to toy with me? She's insane. She grabs my face and puts the scalpel near my right eye.
"Should I start by taking your eye?"

It felt like it had been hours—or it probably was a couple hours—of Schneider torturing me. She kept rambling on about her childhood and how I was at fault for Miss Anna's death. She kept repeating the same thing over and over: "it's your fault", and kept pushing the scalpel into different parts of my body. My thighs, arms, hands were all full of bleeding wounds. She even got to my face at one point, leaving a long scar that went from my top lip to right under my eye. She didn't take my eye because she wanted to "save it for the finishing touch".
I wanted to die. I had lost all hope of someone finding me and saving me. But I remembered Miss Anna's last words to me. I promised her to survive.
Being this close to death I had also realized how much I love König. I wasn't about to sit and wait until someone saved me.
I can save myself.
What I didn't know, however, is that the mentioned man had successfully breached the tower with the others, and he was not going to stop until he found me.
—
At some point, there was commotion heard outside. Multiple gunshots and yelling.
My head hung low, hair covering my eyes."What the hell is going on out there? Go and deal with it, Adam."
There was a beat of silence before Schneider spoke again.
"GO."
I heard scurried footsteps leave farther away from us.
"It seems like your little friends had found you. I guess I'll have to kill you now. A shame, I'll have to do the finishing touch prematurely," she grabbed my face and was about to stab it in my eye when I broke free from the ropes and grabbed the scalpel from her and pinned her down on the floor. I had dislocated the bones in my hands to get out of the ropes, but I was running on adrenaline so I didn't feel the pain yet.
"The one that's going to die today, is you."
She grabbed my arm and tried to push me away from her, but I wouldn't budge. I kept pushing the scalpel closer and closer to her heart, when suddenly Adam burst through the door, distracting me, which gave Schneider the opportunity to overpower me. This time she straddled me and tried to take away the scalpel.
