Chapter - 24

The cops who were in their positions till they saw a figure, Kim V to be exact, being shot, came running towards their two officers.

Since it was already getting dark, they only saw a person wearing a white shirt and black pants falling down.They have seen V's pictures before which were secretly taken by their officers during the time they planned this mission.Everything went according to their plan except the body went into the water even before they could do something about it.

They saw how the colour of the water along with the waves in its surface due to a heavy body falling in it turned normal after a few minutes.Just a day before, they couldn't even imagine that killing Kim V would be that easy of a task.But again, the operations lead by Min Yoongi can never be unsuccessful.Their respect for their officer only increased, thinking about how professional he was during duty hours.

"It's already past six minutes since V's body went under the water.He was already shot on his chest, right where his heart was.There's no way he would survive." One of them said, feeling amused.

"I feel bad for this boy though.I didn't think V would blackmail officer Min's cousin to be his lover.No doubt he used the boy for his own benefits.What can we even expect from a mafia man?" Another one spoke, using a hushed tone while pointing at an unconscious Jungkook who was held by Seokjin.

Yoongi, who was hearing everything with a blank expression snapped back into reality, realising that Jungkook needed to be hospitalized as soon as possible.The younger had a panic attack.He couldn't help the boy even if he wanted to.He had to maintain his professionalism after all.

"Let's head back now.I'll report to the headquarters about the decease of Kim V and then admit Jungkook to the nearby hospital." Yoongi spoke before walking towards the car which was parked far away from where they stood at that moment.The others followed Yoongi without any protests while Seokjin carried Jungkook, looking one more time at the river water which looked calm as if it didn't burry the most feared mafia leader under its water body just a few minutes ago.

A sigh left his mouth when he saw how pale Jungkook looked.He adverted his eyes from the younger's face when he saw a teardrop rolling from the corner of his closed eyes despite of him being unconscious.He knew that Jungkook was broken beyond repair.He also knew that Jungkook would never forgive him and Yoongi for what they did.But he knew for a fact that, they would try their best.

They'd try to get back their Jungkookie, the boy before Kim V entered his life.

"Doc-"

"As you've already guessed, he had a panic attack.I gave him an injection for now.So he'll be sleeping for a while.Unless he gets triggered again, he should be alright." The doctor said even before Yoongi could ask the question.He then left after passing a sympathetic smile at both Yoongi and Seokjin.

"Should we inform, uncle and aunt?" Jin asked hesitantly to which Yoongi just nodded his head, sighing heavily.

Jungkook's parents arrived within half an hour after they received the call from Yoongi.Mrs. Jeon was already a crying mess, not knowing what made their son admit in the hospital all of a sudden.She came running to the two worried looking males, followed by her distressed husband.

"K-kookie?" She pronounced the word with a shaky voice when she finally stood in front of them.

"He's fine now.The doctor has given him the medicines already." Yoongi answered, looking at the floor.He didn't know why he wasn't able to look at her in the eyes at that moment.

"W-what happened to him?Wasn't he with Taehyung?Where is he?" It was Mr. Jeon who asked the question this time, knocking out the air from both Yoongi and Jin's lungs.

"H-he g-got a panic a-attack....a-and....Umm...." Yoongi stuttered, not knowing how to answer the last two questions.He wasn't ready to answer it.

"He was with T-Taehyung." Jin spoke on behalf of Yoongi, knowing the other wouldn't be able to answer them at the moment.

"Where is he then?" Mr. Jeon asked again, not having a good feeling about it.Their Kookie had a panic attack and Taehyung was nowhere near him...He couldn't help but fear the answer to the question he just asked.

"W-we....A-actually....We were on a mission to shoot V on sight." Jin answered, feeling sweat covering his forehead already.

"Don't tell me...." Mr. Jeon's eyes widened in horror.He couldn't even imagine what might have happened there.

"W-what d-did you d-do?" Mrs. Jeon gasped as tears rolled down her cheeks.She looked at the two young males who had their heads hung low, in utter disbelief.

Yoongi, who was busy calming himself down for the whole time finally looked up at his uncle and aunt.What's done is done.There is no point in turning weak now.He couldn't just feel guilty for being successful in their plan.

"I did what I should.I fulfilled my duty."

A painful groan left Jungkook's mouth when he opened his eyes.His head felt heavy, as if it would burst into pieces any moment.The burning feeling in his eyes only increased when they filled with tears automatically.He didn't bother to wipe them away.He didn't have any energy left in his body anymore!

"Kookie"

Though Jungkook didn't respond, he knew it was his mother's voice which he has always found soothing and caring.But why didn't it sound the same at the moment?

More tears left Jungkook's eyes as his heart answered to his question.He didn't find his mother's voice calming himself like other times because this time, he wanted to hear Taehyung's ocean deep voice, whispering sweet nothings in his ears!

Mrs. Jeon sighed while trying not to tear up, not being able to see their son in such state anymore.It's been four days since that incident.Jungkook was still in the hospital.The boy refused to talk to anyone, let alone eat or drink something.The only sounds that left his mouth in the last four days are painful whimpers and heart-wrecking cries.

At first, the doctor permitted the Jeon couple to take Jungkook home after he regained consciousness.Yoongi and Seokjin were waiting for him to wake up all the while but the moment Jungkook's lifeless eyes landed on them, he got another panic attack.Luckily, the doctors reached out to him on time.

After that incident, they decided to keep Jungkook there for a while, wanting for the boy's mind to stabilize a bit.Only his parents kept him company in those days, knowing he won't want to face anyone else, especially Yoongi or Jin in that state.Not that they want him to.Even they were upset with whatever happened that evening.

Yoongi and Jin knew how much Taehyung meant to Jungkook but still they chose their duty over their son.They knew that the two males weren't wrong in their place but they couldn't accept it as right either, not after seeing how lifeless their son looked.It was as if their always cheerful son suddenly lost the will to live.He looked distant and they were scared, in case they lose their son just like that.It was getting too much.It gave them unbearable pain to see Jungkook in that state.

Even though they were getting weak, seeing their son's broken state, they tried to act strong.They tried to act strong for their son.Their Jungkookie needed them the most at that moment and they would do anything to see him in his usual state again.

It may take months....or even years....But they'll always be by their son's side.They'll help him to recover from that heartbreaking incident.....

Even though it seems impossible, they'll still help him to let go of Taehyung!
