Chapter Twenty One - Helheim

After Atreus' horrible deed and after Sigdrifa disappears into the darkness, Berenice once again completely enraged grabs Atreus by his shoulders and scolds him in utter frustration.

Berenice:Hey... that's enough! Your recklessness may cost us!
Atreus:You will just let her call you ugly?
Berenice:I don't mean that! I mean this has got to stop! Yes, she is annoying, infuriating and spoiled, but this does not give us the right to solve our problems with blood, as first choice!
Atreus:This is what we do to our enemies! You know it! Both of you know it!
Kratos:We defend ourselves against our enemies! We do not cause war by anger!
Atreus:I didn't cause any war! I just gave her a lesson!
Berenice:And your lesson is to behave like her?! That doesn't make you better! It doesn't bring justice to us!
Atreus:And how do you know that?!

Berenice when she remembers all the times she became aggressive and fierce against Alaya becomes more infuriated with Atreus.
This time she shakes him as she speaks to him with her voice raised and desperation overwhelming her, hoping this behavior will stop eventually.

Berenice:Because I solved my problems with blood in the past as well! And all I managed to do was to hate myself in the end!

Berenice does not want to say anything more about this matter. Atreus gets surprised and did not expect to hear her say such a thing. However, from the moment she stops talking with her desperation peaked, their father turns indignant of all this and interrupts their argument sternly.

Kratos:Enough! Our journey is over! Our path has shortened! Stop fighting and focus on it!

Berenice at this point pays no attention to either her brother or her father.
She is determined to finish what she started. Now the road to Jotunheim is open and clear.
Her exhaustion does not even compare to her will to fulfill her mother's wish.
No matter what stands in their way, their mother's wish is truly what counts. And now that the journey ends it is ridiculous for them to argue.

Even though Berenice was right in everything she said. She would never admit her brother what she had done to Alaya. But she had to warn him about the reckless foolish decisions and the consequences thereof.

Mimir:Take care! The tunnels in the walls up here have signs of recent dragon activity!
Kratos:We already killed that dragon.
Mimir:Aah! Really! And... how did that go?
Berenice:Well we're alive, apparently it went well.
Mimir:Um, right!
Kratos:A chain. Throw it down.

At one point in that cave, a rise has a chain that the kid has to climb up and drop.Kratos pushes Atreus up and Atreus drops the chain. Berenice climbs up, and shortly afterwards Kratos, and there they find three stone-covered entrances and a huge door with an inscription of letters.

Kratos:What does it say?

Atreus replies after sighing in exasperation.

Atreus:It says, "Don't wake him up."

Æskil moves her shoulder by speaking to her mind.

Æskil:Mistress, we better go!
Berenice:He says we better leave.
Atreus:I don't care! We've killed everything on this mountain! Who else wants a taste?

As he says this a furious, giant ogre with blood red skin bursts through the door, roaring and preparing for battle.
A battle undertaken by all three, in synchronisation and good cooperation, at least Kratos as the main hand and Berenice as a silent attack. Atreus as always shoots arrows at the monsters not caring that he has to help but doing it for his own pleasure.
In this battle Æskil also makes an impressive assist attack with his claws in a combination of magic and runic attack.
