YOUR POV
Today is the day. Prom Night.
I am so excited.
Yesterday's practice at the gym was fine. Only because it was just pretending to perform infront of a lot of people.
All I ever did was to try to move around and make use of the space of the stage and make some hand movements so I won't look like a statue or a robot while performing a song. We made a few adjustments here and there. The backup performers came up with an idea to perform a story of a girl and a boy bonding together and the girl wants to be with the guy and almost at the end of my song, the boy ended up choosing someone else while the girl just watches from afar.
Sounds very sad but they said it is how they interpret the song so it's fine with me.
But once I get to perform for real, infront of a lot of people, I know I'll be a little bit nervous. I've performed on a school play and I did it so why worry about it?
Last night, I realized that I love performing and singing. And after thinking hard about it, I decided to take a performing arts course or something like that.
Through performing, I get to play a different character and get to live their life. Through singing, I can express my feelings clearly.
After eating my lunch, I asked my parents if we could talk about my plans in the future.
I heard a knock on my door.
"Come in." I spoke.
I look up as soon as the door opens.
It's my parents.
"So sweetie, is there anything you want to talk about?" Mom asked.
"Mom, Dad, I would like to talk about my plans in the future, especially once I get to go to College." I said.
"Oh okay, whenever you're ready sweetheart, we're hear to listen to you." Dad said.
"Okay. You see, I had a talk with my friends about our plans in the future and it made me realized that I didn't even think about my future like what I want to pursue in life and what course I want to take. All of them are going to the same university and I'm the only one with no plans. Before I came to Titan High, I thought I won't make any friends and if that were the case, I thought after high school, I would like to take a gap year or go to a different university somewhere else. But then, I made friends and we've been together through a lot of things and experienced different things like having lunch with them, went on crazy adventures with them and made so many memories with them. They mean so much to me and I realized that I want to be with them after high school, before, during and after college, and even many years ahead of us. I want to be in the same university as them. Not only just to be with them but also to pursue what I want to do in life. And I have made my decision. I want to go to Titan University and pursue a Performing Arts course." I said.
"Oh, I see. Is that what you really want?" Mom asked.
"Yes. I love to perform and I love to sing. I get to express myself and also get to perform a different character on stage. I mean sure, I get nervous before I perform or before I sing, but once I started, I became confident and forget what I was nervous or worried about in the first place. And Mom, you're talented in designing clothes and it shows cause it made people smile and make them feel more beautiful and be comfortable for who they are through your clothes. And Dad, you write amazing stories and it shows cause people feel connected through your stories and make them feel heard. That's how you express yourselves. I want to do the same. Through singing, I express my feelings and thoughts while delivering a message clearly while words by themselves without the sound of music just can't. And that's what I want to do." I explained.
