LUCI'S POV

"What in the fuck is wrong with you!" My dad yells at me.

"I'm not sure what you mean.." I cross my arms, looking to the side away from him.

"You got Ben, Athena, and Caleb kidnapped. Possibly even killed! Are you really choosing not to acknowledge that right now??" He asks me.

"It not my fau-"

"Luci. You shot Ben, secured Athena and Caleb's captured, then pissed off your mom. What about that isn't your fault??" He asks me.

"You refused to tell me about mom! So sorry if I got a little emotional." I defend.

"God dammit! Luci you have been nothing but a liability to me and this fucking mafia. You're unfit! You're done. Officially. I don't think I can handle you anymore." He sits at his desk.

"Not sure I get what you mean by that.." I sit up straight.

"I mean, i'm choosing a new successor. Even thinking about you being in control of this mafia hurts my fucking soul." He holds his phone up to his ear.

"The mafia is supposed to go to kin." I furrow my eyebrows.

"Yes, and I have an awful one." He says and my heart hurts a bit. "What the fuck has gotten into you?.." He grumbles.

"Dad-"

"Get the fuck out of my face." He says, his voice coated in venom.

I stare at him a moment longer before getting up to leave.

I start walking to my room and I see Mindy sitting with Mia in the living room.

..I didn't notice it before.. But they seem very close.

I enter the room and Mia looks up.

Her soft features immediately harden.

"I'm sorry about Ben." I apologize.

"No you're not." She immediately retorts.

"Believe me, I-"

"Shut up." Mindy speaks up.

She lifts her head up and I can quite plainly see she's been crying.

"You fucking ruined everything Luci. If you would've just stayed calm we wouldn't be in the situation we are right now." She blames me.

"I had no clue what my mom was going to do! I didn't even know she was alive till a few hours ago." I furrow my eyebrows.

"I'm not talking about your mother!" She snaps.

"You shot Ben, Luci. You've been shot before, and so you know it hurts like hell. Ben may act tough all the time but he's just as fragile as you. You made him incapable of protecting himself. Running away when he fucking needed to. If my brother is dead.. I will never forgive you." Mia tells me.

"Do you seriously only think about what could happen to you? What about those around you? You seriously only ever seem to look out for yourself." Mindy adds.

"We lost, so many people because you decided to lose your temper. I know you couldn't control what your mother was going to do, but if you didn't shoot Ben, I guarantee you.. Your mother would be in our capture right now." Mia explains to me.
