𝟑𝒓𝒅 𝑷𝑶𝑽"Who all knows about you and Tommy?" Polly asked dumping last few remains of her cigarette in the ash tray. Salomé thought of who all in her family had officially found out since she basically ran away from home last night.
"The whole family." Salomé chuckled to herself, knowing how word got around fast in her family. "Oh lord, now if we was back home the whole neighborhood would know and I wouldn't be able to successfully hide out in my beau's house like this." Salomé simply smiled and shook her head, reminiscing about her old home.
Before any more words could be muttered, Finn came running in with two small brown paper bags.
"What brings you in here like this?" Polly arched her eyebrow at the giddy Finn Shelby."I was told Salomé was here and I brought these for you Salomé." Finna held up the two bags before dumping the contents on the table.
It was a variety of sweets."Oh wow Finn, thank you so much." Salomé gave Finn a peck on his cheek making the young boy cheeks turn into a faint red.
"Which one is yer favorite Salomé? Mine is the lemon ones." Finn popped a lemon candy into his mouth.
"Hmmm." Salomé put on her best thinking face for Finn as her index finger tapped her chin. "I would have to say this one." Salomé picked up a piece of candy, plopping it into her mouth.
"I also got you lollies, Salomé." Finn pushed the candies that he had specifically picked out to her.
"Aww why thank you Finn, I'll make sure to repay your kindness." Salomé ruffled Finn's hair, making him smile brightly.
"Make sure you pay back Josephine!" Salomé looked at him confused. "Josephine told me to give you these since she wants you to come home." Salomé did her best to hide her emotions from the young child.
"Salomé, what does Josephine mean by youse coming home?" Salomé couldn't tell young Finn the truth, he was only a child and wouldn't understand the matter of situations.
Salomé searched for an answer to give Finn, he looked at her innocently waiting for an answer.
"Finn, how 'bout you go in the den. Help your brothers." Polly patted Finn along, he quickly disappeared behind the green double doors."Thank you Miss Polly." Salomé sighed, leaning back into her chair.
"Children don't need all the worries, it's best to keep them away as long as you can." Polly dumps her cigarette in the ash tray. She stands up from her seat, clearing her throat. "Your father works in the tyre factory right?" Polly ask as she grabs her coat and hat.
"Yes? You finna go up there now?" Salomé stood along Polly. "I thought you were gonna speak to him tomorrow."
"If I have you away from home longer than 24 homes, it'll be war and the Shelby family can't have that." Salomé could only imagine how her father was feeling now that she had ran away. "Yet father will need to sit down and have a chat with Tommy, then I need to speak with him today." Polly fixes the coat on her body.
"Do you need me to come with you now?" Polly chuckled.
"Do not fret girl, by tomorrow you will be hearing news from your father and Tommy. It's the Shelby way of handling problems in the family." Polly puts on her hat. "While I'm gone, serve the men their drinks; I'd rather them not come in here and fuck up anything." Those were Polly last words before she left the building.
