"Papa why!?" Salomé stormed into the house, her fuming father following behind close on her heels. "You will never see that boy ever!" Alphonse yelled alerting his brother and sister-in-law who sat in the kitchen. "C'est quoi tous ces cris?" Aunt Beatrice and Uncle Pierre were bewildered at the father and daughter yelling match. "I am a grown woman papa, you can't dictate who I will see and who I won't see." Salomé said sternly, tears daring to escape from her eyes as she pointed at her father. "I ain't a child no more!" "Why did I have to hear that you were going off to the betting den from my fellow workers, hmm?" Salomé rolled her eyes at her father. Aunt Beatrice opened her mouth but was quickly stopped by Alphonse putting his hand up. "Ne mentez pas pour elle, Béatrice(Don't make a lie for her, Beatrice)." Alphonse warned his sister-in-law, as he knew Beatrice would try to pacify Salomé relationship with one of the Shelby boys, a romantic relationship at that. "Frère, nous ne pouvons pas aider nos enfants à tomber amoureux. Allez-y doucement avec la fille, oui(Brother, we can't help who our children fall in love with. Go easy on the girl aye)." Pierre felt he needed to have an say so aswell, he knew about Shelby's more than his brother did. Alphonse was just clouded by the gossip of Small Heath and his own personal anger.. "Sorry no, I will not be told how to raise my child. You can raise your children want, but mines is different!" Everyone in the room knew Alphonse didn't mean no ill-will to what he said but it was true. His brother Pierre and sister-in-law Beatrice raised their eldest daughter differently than he did. They were more free with their child, who was working in a burlesque and having suitors that gave Clara money. At the end of the day, Pierre and Beatrice knew this was bringing well needed money into the family and they knew that Clara would stay a clean girl at home and keep her work away from home. It was out of their control so instead of groveling in misery and complaining about it, they just quietly went along with Clara's lifestyle. Opinions may differ on it, but that's just how the Blouin family worked in Small Heath.
"Papa I will not let you talk about Tommy Shelby as he is some monster. Tommy does these things for his family and the people of Small Heath." Alphonse shook his head in disbelief at his only daughter defending a criminal, a gangster. "Tommy has put money in everyone's pockets here in Small Heath, whether you hate him or love him, Tommy is good to me and has never-" "Ça suffit!" Alphonse voice boomed in that small kitchen. "Salomé Othelia Blouin, as long as you are under my rule then you will follow what I say. I forbid you from seeing Thomas Shelby, that man is no good for you." Salomé felt her tears come up hearing those words from her father, she knew it would be bad when her father found out but not this bad.
