Lily:
Sighing for the hundredth time today, I put on my white sandals, pissing off Colton even more.
"Your life is in fucking danger. Do you not understand that? Fuck, I don't wanna keep saying this, Lily, but it's true." Colton seethes, a few seconds away from yelling, and I shut my eyes for a moment to remain calm.
Yes, I understand that someone is out there probably planning my death, but I can't just lock myself in Colton's bedroom, now can I? I understand why he's freaking out, I truly do. But there isn't much I can do about it.
"Darling," I start as softly as I can manage. "I understand, but I can't just drop out of school. I can't just quit living, Colton."
"You don't have to drop out." He says, moving his hands through his black hair in distress. "We're meeting Gabe's dad tomorrow, and soon this whole thing will be over. You just have to wait till then."
"I can't do that. I have assignments to submit, quizzes to take. The semester is almost over, and I have to attend to be able to pass. I can't fail." I explain my point for the third time as I shove my notebook into this cursed backpack.
The second I receive my paycheck, I'm buying myself a new one. And then I'll burn this one and bask in watching it going up in flames, along with the threat it constantly comes with.
Colton shakes his head at me with a sarcastic chuckle, his gray irises flashing with anger. "I can't fucking believe you. You're talking about quizzes when I'm talking about your goddamn safety. Do you not fucking care about your wellbeing anymore? How could you be so fucking---"
Snapping his mouth shut, Colton swallows the rest of his words as he turns around and lets out a low groan that has me sighing again.
At least he's trying not to hurt my feelings too much.
Colton takes a deep breath before turning back to face me, his expression finally softening, and walks over to me. His arms find my waist. "I'm sorry. Forgive me, Lily."
I smile at him, my hands resting on his chest. "I know you're worried, but please try to understand. I can't let them win. I need to go on with my life. Besides, you'll drop me off and pick me up, nothing bad will happen to me in a lecture-hall full of students."
He looks slightly more convinced than before, and he gives me a quick peck on my lips. "You're right. But I'm gonna need you to wait for me after every lecture ends so I can walk you to the next one. And please don't argue with me about this, Lily. For my fucking sanity, just say yes."
"Yes, Colton." I smile at him sweetly, giving him the phrase he loves the most, and just like that all his anger leaves with no trace.
"Thank you, baby." He pulls me closer to him and finds my lips again with his own. He kisses me softly, slowly, savoring my taste and I wrap my arms around his neck, stepping on my toes.
His hands fall from my waist to my ass and he kneads it through my mustard dress, making me moan into his mouth and tug at his hair.
"If you wanna make it to that lecture in time, don't fucking moan like this." He groans against my lips and I blush, breathing heavily.
Nodding my head, I step back and clear my throat. "Let's go."
