The ginger ate with the four as they were nagging at the poor ferret who just sighs all through the conversation.
Shoyo had to explain to his friends why he knew where his place was so things won't get any bigger.
His excuse was, yes, about what happened that one night when he didn't like to go back to his place and Sakusa saw him.
And that's what happened.
Kenma, Kuroo, and Kageyama were still suspicious but let it slide as they trusted the ginger.
After eating their very first meal of the day. Yes, it was their first meal as they'd been looking for the ginger for hours since then.
They watched a movie as they didn't have anything to do.
Well, it was because their professor permitted them to rest for the day as they know what they'd been doing for the last 3 days.
In the middle of a dramatic change in the movie, they heard Kageyama's phone ring.
Sakusa paused the movie as the crow answered the call.
"Yes?... Huh? Why?..."
The four boys listening were curious as to what they were talking about.
"Hmm... I see... But is that even better?.. I think it will be a big problem. Right?..."
The crow scowled as he talked.
"Okay. Got it. We'll be there immediately, thank you, prof."
He ended the call and looked at everyone.
They all gulped as the tension rose from their curiosity.
"All duelists will need to meet up with everyone immediately... There's no one representative anymore... Everyone who wants to duel will join the competition..."
Everyone went silent as they didn't expect to hear such news.
Even Kuroo who has been in the Academy for 3 years hasn't heard of this kind of change in the celebratory sport.
It was supposed to be a duel.
Where one representative fights with the other and the last man standing wins.
Everyone stood up from their seats as they gathered their things to go to the Academy for a meeting.
Sakusa turned off all his appliances of course for safety reasons.
They arrived at the Academy and they saw all their friends gathering on the school grounds.
All four of them split up as they went to their respective class.
Kageyama and Shoyo went to the rest of the freshmen as they saw the orange boy and welcomed him with their warm embrace.
"Okay, guys... Please... I'm fine now... Ugh-"
"Shoyo! Where the hell did you go?! Do you know how worried I was?"
A certain large feline said as he embraced the ginger.
Shoyo chuckles as he pats the back of the lion.
Two crows weren't happy seeing the reunion.
Kageyama was glaring holes in the gullible feline while the salty crow was silently judging the innocent boy.
Everyone went silent when they heard a microphone being tapped.
They turned around and looked at the center stage of their Academy.
Prof. Nekomata was standing and was about to relay a message to his students and everyone else.
He clears his throat first and then he speaks.
"I want everyone to stand straight and listen to what I will have to say... Is that understood? Lev?"
As he said those words, eyes were looking at the certain lion who instantly separated himself from a certain orange head.
Lev hides behind his friend, Inuoka who was just smiling happily.
Everyone stifles a laugh as they watch a happy dog protecting a lion.
Prof. Nekomata then clears his throat again as he continues.
"The High priest has suggested a new law for the duel... Knights from the past shall come alive and fight... He who shall remain will be crowned the Sun's knight."
Gasps and surprising voices were heard from the students as they got uneasy about the news.
Knights from the past are people who lived their whole lives devoting themselves to fighting.
And.
They're just students.
"This is unfair!"
A student from the crowd shouted.
More like a certain female senior shouted from the crowd of her juniors.
"Saeko-san?.."
The ginger said as he hears a familiar voice from the crowd.
The cat professor frowned as he didn't like to be interrupted.
Two male seniors grabbed the woman and calmed her down as she just interrupted the professor.
Fortunately, Nekomata is a patient man.
He sighs and agrees with what the female senior said.
"Yes, you are correct... But there is nothing we can do... The principal himself agreed to the high priest... And so whether you like it or not... Everyone should follow the new rules..."
The students became nervous and a bit angry as they never liked the idea.
They could get killed because of this.
And this idea is just a punishment for fun for the high priest.
"If you wish to join... Come to my office with your name on a small piece of paper and roll it... Because... It's a gamble."
Hearing those words some participants backed out immediately as they hear it will be a gamble.
Putting their rolled paper on a bowl and just luckily picking it up is like a nightmare.
"Nah bruh... I ain't participating no more..."
A student said as he laughs nervously.
Some students agreed while some have made their resolution.
And one of them was Hinata Shoyo.
Nothing scares him now.
As what he had just witnessed and experienced in the painful past.
This will be just a walk in the park for him.
Professor Nekomata then bids everyone good luck before saying goodbye and walking off the stage.
Everyone was then told to go back to their respective classrooms as they were going to have a talk with themselves about whether they enter or not.
Shoyo immediately went to the office with his rolled paper.
He had a confident aura around him as he passed by some students who looked at him worried.
He ignored all their whispers as he stood in front of the cat's office door.
He inhales and exhales as he opens the door only to see familiar faces.
And one of the people he least expected to be seen was there.
"Ennoshita-san?... Eh?..."
"Oh, I'm just here to pass our assignments...
Don't worry I don't want to die, ha."
