"Who said she needed to listen to you?" Karma replies for you. "Akabane, how many times do I have to tell you to back off? Neither of us need to get mixed up with your sadism crap." You rub your temple at your brothers reaction, tired from the growing headache you had now gained.

"Look. You haven't even sat down and had a conversation with Akabane. He might be an annoying little shit, but he's not that stupid." you explain, trying not to inflate Karma's ego too much.

"I don't need to. I've already witnessed the crap he's pulled with my own eyes. He's only interested in playing with people for fun. Whether it be mentally or physically." Gakushuu's purple eyes tightened.

"Oh? What about all that fake pretty boy attitude you admit around others 24/7? Isn't that close enough to manipulation? Does anyone really know who you are, mr.Perfection?"

How was your brother supposed to react to that? He knew it was true.

"Let's just go home." you walk past both of the boys. Grudgingly, they both followed. All three of you took the same train after all.

"Why aren't you staying after school today?" you ask. "Father said he wanted me to come check on you. So he granted me permission to call off the student council meeting for you. Father is rather nervous about you not transferring back to A-class. I would find it humorous if I didn't want you to come back too. You should see the state the choir is in without you. Goodbye to the gold trophy without you there to direct them."

Gakushuu was doing what he learned best from your father. Manipulation. He thought bringing up the shortcomings of the clubs you loved to do might convince you to reconsider. But you're smarter than that, and didn't bat an eye.

"Isn't that a good thing for you? That I'm in E-class? It makes you look better and also gets you closer to taking father's throne. Which has been your goal ever since I can remember."

That may had been a big goal for him since forever...but why couldn't you see he wanted to accomplish that goal with you?

Karma yawned behind the two of you, seemingly staring off into space, trusting the two of you to lead the way. "Akabane. If you aren't using my sister, why would you want to be friends with her?" Gakushuu turns around suddenly.

"Hm? Why I'd want to be friends with her?" Karma said taken aback from the sudden question. How was he supposed to answer that, especially in front of you? "She's interesting." he kept it simple.

"That still sounds like you just want to use her for whatever messed up shit you want."

"Well, how are you supposed to explain why you want to be friends with someone? Every human has a desire for connection. And it just so happens that all of us are alike. I also happened to know you already and wanted to see if she was any different than you. Which she is. She's not brainwashed like you and all the other A-class piss offs." Karma said more than he would've liked to, but left it at that.

"I'll see ya, Princess." the red head turns a different direction from the train station. "Where are you going?" you quirk a brow. "To the cliff. See ya." he answers simply.

You sigh before continuing to walk home. "Was Akabane's answer to your question sufficient enough for you to leave us alone?"

"Not quite. Now I would like to hear why you want to be his friend."

You paused. You would normally just retort the usual, 'I don't want to be his friend, he just annoys me' but was that really true anymore? It had already been a few months in this classroom. You couldn't help but feel closer than that.

"Do you not have an answer?" Gakushuu confusedly asks. "Do you really need a reason to want to be with someone?" you lamely copied Karma's answer as you walked ahead of your brother at the train station. Now it was Gakushuu's turn to not have an answer. Gakushuu couldn't help but overthink the fact that neither of you wanted to admit to taking a liking to each other.
