Chapter 3

Laura's POV

I walked out to the mail box today, and I found something I wasn't expecting. A letter from Ross. Should I open it? I thought to myself. It could be a joke. He doesn't like me the way I like him. I slowly opened the letter, and read it. What it said scared me, but I was willing to do it.

It couldn't be. He does like me. I'm going to do it. I love him, and I will test it. I slipped the letter into my back pocket. I didn't want Mike to find this. I've always dreamed of this day. I just wish I wouldn't be bullied by the one I love.

Mike: hey babe, what came in the mail today?

Oh man, I forgot the other mail when I saw Ross's letter.

Laura: Oh, I must have forgotten it. Sorry, I'll be right back. (Goes to get the mail and comes back) Bills, bills, and more bills. Oh WAIT, there's another thing. A letter from France university!!!!! OMG!!! You got excepted!!!!!!!

I was happy for Mike, but the thing that was really on my mind was the letter from Ross.

Mike: REALLY?!?!?! Oh, wait, I can't leave you. I applied before I met you, and I can't leave you now.

Laura: Mike, you have to go. This is a once and a life time opportunity. I will be fine. 4 years won't be bad.

Mike: I'm sorry Laura. If I'm going to be away for 4 years, I'll miss you too much. I can't have a girlfriend over seas. I'm sorry Laura, but we can still be friends, and I'll be there for you when you need to talk about Ross. (Pulls her into a hug) I'm sorry Laura.

Laura: It's alright Mike. I know this would never work out. I'm not good at long distance relationships. I just want you to know that I love you.

Mike: I love you too. We can always video chat.

Laura: Of course

*4 weeks later*

*At the airport*

Laura's POV

Bye Mike. I love you!!! We will video chat, okay?

Mike: Of course girl. I love you too. Text me before you want to video chat. I don't care how late it is. Just text me, and I'll get up and still video chat with you.

So, I know I should be more sad about Mike leaving, and our break up, but I had another thing on my mind. Every day this month, Ross has asked me if he could do it. I would say no, because I didn't want him to do it until Mike left. So, now that he was departing from the U.S., than I can write him back. What's the worst that would happen. At least I wouldn't come home with a bloody nose every day.
