A/N:  This is in Keefe's POV (Point of view) for this chapter.  I hope you enjoy it!

I grabbed my backpack and strode out of the living room toward the leapmaster.  I looked around at candleshade and all the things that happened there, and then I thought about Sophie hailing me and asking about Foxfire.

But I blocked all of that out of my mind, raised my crystal to the light, and appeared in a state called...Hawaii.

The air smelled sweet and fresh, there were some people on the coast, tanning as the waves crashed just below their feet.  There was another guy lying on a seat with a brown beard and mustache.

I walked down the road and went into small little mom-and-pop shops, wondering one thing, why was this all forbidden, even though I knew the answer to my question?

When I turned the corner of the intersection people's feelings clouded my head, there must have been twice the people there were here than down the corner.  There was mostly happiness and joy, although there was some guilt.  There was a big building that had a red bow on it and it read...Merry Christmas, whatever that is, I thought.

I kept walking past it until I came upon a hotel.  I walked inside and went to the check-in desk.

"Hello,"  The lady said.  "Merry Christmas."

What is this  Christmas? I thought.

"Hello, and could I get a hotel room,"  I said.  "Just for one night."

"You sound like you're in a rush,"  He said, with a look of curiosity.

"Could I please, get my hotel room,"  I said.

"Sure,"  He said.  "It'll be up the stairs and the first room on the right."

"Okay, thank you,"  I said, turning around and going up the stairs into my hotel room for the night.

I woke up to the smell of some food called pancakes, french toast, eggs, and sausage. Which turned out to taste a lot better than how it looked and the name of it.

The hotel had complimentary breakfast, another nice feature about this hotel, along with free lunch and something called cocktails for dinner.

Outside of the hotel people were crowding around the breakfast bar, getting their food and bringing it to their table.

I grabbed my plate and started scooping bacon, eggs, sausage, cinnamon rolls, and cereal, and then went over and sat at a table next to the coffee station. I dug into my food, starting off with the cinnamon rolls. It was the best thing I ever tasted. After I almost finished my food a girl came over.

"Do you mind if I sit here?"  She asked.  "Every other table is taken."

"...Sure,"  I said.

She sat down, pushed her hair behind her ear, and started eating.

"Do you have any family here?"  She asked.

"No...I took a plane out here,"  I said. "How about you?"

"I live across in Arizona,"  She said. "This is my Christmas present from my parents."

"Oh."

"How old are you?"

"Sixteen."

"Same, I just turned sixteen on December 13th."

I finished my food and got up when she asked for my number.

"Uh, you could just go to my room, the number is 145,"  I said, realizing I would need to make some money and get a phone.

"Okay, see you around,"  She said, picking up her plate and going up to her room.

I went up the same way she did except to rooms past hers. I looked around the room to see if there were anything that could be a possible job I could have, I found nothing until I heard someone from the other room say, lifeguard.

That will be a good job,  I thought.

~

"You can't just say you want to be a lifeguard and be accepted, I won't even make you go through all the training,"  The lifeguard said.  "All you have to do is work out, there's no way your little body is strong enough to bring someone back to shore."

"Okay, sure,"  I said over through the new phone I got at Apple. "Bye, thank you for your help."

I hung up as there was a knock on my door.

I put my phone down on the dresser and answered the door.

It was the girl that I saw yesterday at the table for breakfast.

"Hello,"  She said as she smiled. "Could I come in?"

"Yeah, sure,"  I said, moving to the side to let her in.

She sat down on the couch and asked what my phone number is.

"It's 808-934-9403."

"Okay, mine is 808-873-9805,"  She said, glancing at her phone.

I sat down next to her and we started talking when she asked if I played any sports.

"No,"  I said. "Do you."

"Yeah, I play volleyball and basketball,"  She said as she got a call and hurriedly rushed out of the room without another word.
