"OMG, Leni!!!!" one of her closest friends, Leila, squealed as they approached the vice at a running pace. She was with Risa whom she held and pulled along with her.
"Sen.," pagtanggap nito sa kanilang kamay upang alalayan sa mga suot nilang long gowns at heels. "Hindi ko in-expect na makikita ko rin kayo dito."
"Ikaw ang hindi ko inasahang darating dito, VP," Leila nudged an elbow at her joint.
"Why would I not? This is one of the most important events I should be attending," Leni lightened up the mood but it didn't falter breaking her heart.
"Sen. Lei, malamang andito 'yan e sila nga 'tong BFF na BFF diba!" Risa chuckled, "Ininvite niya ata lahat ng mga schoolmates niya from UP, kaloka."
"What good is a wedding if not for guests to witness such matrimony?" Leila backed Leni up.
"Sabagay," Risa subsequently nodded her head. "Bongbong Marcos and Louise Araneta? Huh, andaming pinaiyak na mga lalake't babae yang dalawang yan nung pumutok ang balitang engaged na sila."
Suddenly, a hand snaked in Risa's waist, "Korek, agree ako dyan."
"Pia!" Leni enthusiastically uttered her name. "Kamusta? Hindi na kita nakikita sa plenary, 'eh."
"Maganda pa rin naman," she joked. "Chos, ayos lang ako. Glad bumping onto you here."
"Yeah..." her voice became weak, remembering one thing she must do. "If I may excuse myself muna ha, I should go and find Bolet."
"Oo nga pala, bridesmaid ka pala!" Leila concluded and looked around her ladies. "I think we also have to go na din bilang principal sponsors din kami. I'll save us a table for you at the reception?"
"Thank you. See you," she flew a kiss as she slowly pulled herself away from the group circle they'd made.
Halatang nahihirapan si Leni sa heels na kanyang suot ngunit nagpatuloy pa rin siya sa paglalakad papunta sa hotel. Medyo magkalapit lang ang building nito at ng sa simbahan kaya madali niya itong pinasok at dumiretso sa elevator.
Expecting that she's going to be the only one riding it upwards, seems like fate had her own plans.

"Thank you," she glanced at him and tucked a few hair strands behind her earlobe and decided to joke around. "Alam mo, dapat hindi mo na sinasabi 'yang mga ganyan sa ibang babae."
"I'm not yet married, but I'll keep that in mind. Totoo naman kasi talagang napakaganda ng tutor ko sa Econ," he slid his hands into his pockets.
"Hindi ka pa rin nagbabago. Girlfriend mo man o hindi, binobola mo pa rin," Leni looked away to hide her lips' upward curve.
