13. champagne

our christmas dinner was a couple days ago. diego has to leave in a couple of days to celebrate christmas with his family in spain. today hes taking me out to spend time before he leaves.

"amor im here" i see a message pop up on my phone.

i was looking at myself in the mirror quickly finishing up my makeup. i grab my stuff and see my dad sitting on the couch re-watching the world cup games.

"bye pa" i said as i struggled to open the door. "bye mija cuídate!" he said to me before i shut the door. my dad knew about me and diego. he didn't mind us at all, he just wanted us to make it official already.

but me and diego have been taking our time.

once i closed my front door i see diego standing by the car waiting for me to approach it so he can open my door.

"wow you look beautiful" he said admiring me before opening my door. i waited for him to get in the car but that didn't take him too long because he jogged.

"you look so handsome" i spoke squeezing his face as he put on his seatbelt.

i had absolutely no idea where we were going. all that he told me was to dress "fancy" so i did. he was also dressed fancy so i didn't think much.

it was around 5:30. it wasn't too chilly but not too warm. the sun was starting to set around this time. once we got to our destination i realized we were at this restaurant i've been wanting to try.

"oh my gosh" i said as we pulled up to the restaurant. i look over at him, he had a smile on his face. he could feel my excitement. lots of people have spoke to me about the restaurant.

i would talk to him about going to try it out, for hours and hours.

once we parked he quickly ran to my side to open my door. the restaurant was like a plaza. there was a beautiful garden leading you to the entrance.

me and him walked to the entrance hand in hand. admiring all the plants. the only sound i could hear was the water falls the restaurant had in the front.

"reservation for diego lainez" he said as we reached the entrance. a man greeted us there.

"ah yes mr and mrs. lainez follow me" he said. he took two menus and lead us to a private rooftop dinner. you could see all of mexico city from the rooftop.

it was filled with flower walls and so on.

once we got seated i watched as a cool breeze hit diego. his hair lightly moving to one side.

the whole night was filled with laughter and random conversations. i could spend hours and hours talking to him. i would and could never get bored of him.

as our food got brought out we ate in peace and quiet. slight air hitting us here and there.

"so y/n the reason i brought you here is because ive been wanting to ask you something" he said.

i dropped my fork carefully on my plate and played full attention to him.

"so i've been wanting to ask you if you wanted to.. uhm.. go back to spain with me. just until march. i have a couple games to finish in europe and then we could come back to mexico city.. and visit your dad whenever you want of course. i already spoke to him about this he said its fine as long as you agree. so will you please come to spain with me y/n.. please?"

he reached over the table and grabbed my hand. moving to spain? with diego? thats alot to take in.

i sat there not knowing what to say. "uhm.. of course ill go with you diego!" i said smiling.

he got up from his seat and picked me up spinning us in circles. he planted a soft kiss on my lips. "i couldn't leave without you" he said smiling.

after a couple minutes a waitress came to check up on us. "excuse me do you think we could get a bottle of your most expensive champagne?" diego asked politely.

"of course mr. lainez one of our finest bottles of champagne coming up!" the waitress spoke.

it didn't take too long for the waitress to bring out the bottle. along with the bottle came two champagne glasses.

diego popped it open immediately after the waitress left. he poured an even amount into both glasses.

"cheers to a new chapter in spain!"

"cheers!"

we both said lifting up our glasses into the air. the sound of the two glasses meeting together was heard along with some of the champagne falling out of the glasses.
