Melissa sat in her room spinning around on her swivel chair throwing crumpled up pieces of paper into her trashcan. She couldn't write the English essay due tomorrow that she waited till the last minuet to do. The house phone rang which gave her the excuse of leaving her desk "Greendale residence" she said answering the phone.

"Oh hello Melissa! It's Mcgee, is your father around?" He asked sounding worried.

"Uh yeah is everything alright?" She asked walking down stairs.

"Yep everything's fine, no need to worry" he said obviously lying.

Melissa walked into the kitchen and found her father at the table buried nose deep in paper work.

"Dad" she said.

He looks up, his glasses were pushed down to the tip of his nose.

"Mcgee's on the phone" she held it out for him.

"Oh thank god" he breathed out "hey Mcgee" he said bringing the phone to his ear.

Melissa walked into the living room and picked up the other phone to listen in on the call. She casually walked upstairs and shut her bedroom door.

"Clifford got bailed" Mcgee said.

"I know, I heard" Greendale replied.

"By his parents"

"His parents? He told me they were dead!" Greendale said.

"Mikey's out? Mikey's out!" Melissa smiled excitedly. She quickly covered her mouth realizing she revealed herself.

"Melissa Jane Greendale!" Her fathers angry voice broke through the phone "what are you doing calling that boy 'Mikey'?"

Her face formed a puzzled expression. Her father was more upset about her wanting to see Michael than eavesdropping on their police call.

"Alright Greendale I'll let you go, goodnight" Mcgee said hanging up the phone.

"Melissa you get downstairs right now young lady" her father said angrily.

"I don't understand why you don't like him! He's sweet and nice and funny-"

"Lord have mercy girl, you're not to see that boy ever and that's final! He's a bad person, I'm warning you!" Her father ended the call from downstairs.

She sat the phone down and fell back onto her bed and sighed. Her and Brady broke up last week and she hasn't been able to get Michael out of her mind. She was sad about Brady but excited because now she was free for Michael. She turned her head to the left and saw the ripped piece of paper she had found in her fathers police car with Michael's number on it. She's pressed the numbers into her phone a thousand times but never managed to hit call.

Melissa stood up and walked over to the paper. She got her phone and typed in the digits that would either hurt her or love her. She finally hit call and brought the phone up to her ear.

"Hello?" His voice asked.

She almost screamed.

"Who is this?" He asked again.

"Melissa" she finally said.

"Oh, babe"

She could practically hear his smile "yeah, babe" she giggled fixing her hair behind her ear.

"What are you giggly about?" He asked through a smile.

"Nothing.."

"Oh yeah? Hey how was prom with uh what's his name? Brody?" He asked.

"It's Brady and prom was nice but we broke up afterwards.." She swung her feet back and forth off the edge of her chair.

"Why?" He asked.

She laughed "are you actually interested in this?" She asked.

"Yeah of course babe, if you're sad I want to help"

"Is this Michael Clifford I'm talking to?" She asked jokingly.

He laughed "yes it is"

"Brady and I just weren't working" she admitted to him.

"You think we would work?" He asked.

The question came out of nowhere and caused her to sit up straight in her chair "what?" She asked.

"Never mind..." He trailed off.

"No, no I...well to be honest I don't think we would" she said sadly "my dad hates you"

"But thats the fun part babe, can I meet you tomorrow night?" He asked.

"Where?"

"Your room, you've got a window don't you?"

"You can't be serious" she laughed.

"See you at midnight tomorrow, bye babe" he said before hanging up.

She ended the call with a smile on her face "I think he likes me!" she squealed.
