The Run For Two Kings

(In this chapter Luigi and Mario are kids, basically giving back the story for Luigi's illness.)

Mario was setting up some games for Luigi making sure it was safe and fun for the both of them smiling.

"Mario what in the world are you doing?" His father said staring at the disgusting thing in front of him "I'm making a game for me and Luigi papa."

His father picks up what looks like a wet sock "Mario you should be doing your school work not... this" he said throwing the sock away as Mario put it back in the water.

"But Luigi has been quiet for a week now I want to make him happy" Mario said setting up a little tent that was his size "Mario" his father said making Mario look at him.

"Luigi is not your problem right now school is and if you don't get back to it you can kiss this little make the brat happy game goodbye do I make myself clear?" His father said as Mario looked down nodding.

"Good now go to your room and finish that homework" his father said as Mario went to his room closing the door behind him mumbling under his breath "Luigi isn't a brat" He said going over to Luigi's bed seeing it empty sighing softly.

Mario goes over all his room looking for his homework before checking his bed finding it under the blankets knowing Luigi put them there.

While Mario finished his homework he could hear someone running to the room as the door swinged open to Luigi coming in.

Mario looked at Luigi smiling running over to him and hugging him tightly "hey Luigi how did it go?" He asked smiling but stopped when he saw Luigi holding back tears hugging him more "mama wouldn't stop yelling at me Mario."

Luigi said hugging Mario tightly making small sniffs here and there Mario sighs softly wiping away his tears smiling "its going to be ok Luigi mama and papa just don't see the real you I know I'm sure they see it."

Luigi slowly nods going over to his bed going under the blankets hiding himself as Mario sighs closing the door behind him then goes over to Luigi's bed tapping him.

"Luigi you know tomorrow you have to go to the hospital right?" He asked seeing the blanket move a little bit then saw Luigi's head nodding to his question.

Later on that day Mario tried everything to cheer up Luigi even playing the new game he made which got Luigi to smile and laugh as they played.

"Alright boys it's time for bed get dressed" they're father said staring at their disgusting game as the boys got ready for bed.

Luigi had other plans he waited for everyone to be asleep as he slowly got out of bed seeing if Mario was awake then went around the room grabbing stuff leaving the house running to the woods but was in for a surprise later on.

Luigi played around in the woods as everyone was asleep back at home laughing a lot while having fun before getting picked up "Luigi you are supposed to be asleep!"

Mario said holding him before putting Luigi down "Mario!" He said hugging Mario and smiling, "Luigi I'm serious you should be in bed you have to go to the hospital tomorrow."

"but Mario, I hate the hospital, because that would mean I would have to be alone," Luigi said getting upset as Mario hugged him "I know Luigi but it has to be done..."

He said looking at Luigi who was getting close to crying "how about this Luigi if I can convince mom to get us ice cream for the check-up will you go?"

Mario asked wiping his tears away as Luigi thought about it nodding "but what if I'm not allowed to leave?"

"Then we'll bring you the ice cream and if I can't bring it inside I'll just sneak in!" He said messing up Luigi's hair and making them both laugh.

Mario heard they're names being called looking for the sun, looking a little up before looking away quickly, covering his eyes "I need to stop doing that."

Luigi got up grabbing Mario's hand "come on big bro," he said pulling him on his arm.

Mario picks up Luigi giggling as Luigi screamed like a little girl from being tossed around laughing again.

Soon they were back home and they're mother didn't look happy "so you decided to run off instead of sleeping?"

Luigi crawled around on Mario getting on his back and holding onto him "sorry mama how long is the appointment going to be this time?"

Mario asked bouncing Luigi up from time to time hearing Luigi gigging behind him.

Their mom looked at them sighing "this time I do not know boys it might even take months." She said before getting yelled at "Months!?" Both Luigi and Mario said looking at their mom.

"But mama you said it would only take a few days," Luigi said getting worried then he started feeling weak squeezing Mario "yes I know what I said Luigi but I'm not a doctor now am I?"

Mario turned his head around and looked at his brother then at their mom waiting for her to say something else but it was like she didn't.

"Oh please, Luigi you've been to the hospital more than once you even stayed at the hospital for almost three years." She said turning away and walking off before Mario could say anything.

Mario felt something wet on his shoulder looking at Luigi again seeing blood run down his chin "mama! Luigi he's-."

They're mother gave Mario a cold stare "he's what? Sleepy his feet hurt? If you two didn't run off to the woods that wouldn't have happened besides we're almost at the hospital."

Mario looked at Luigi again fear and worries taking over his head running past they're mother at least as fast his little legs could take him.

The moment he ran inside, he ran up to a nurse "can you please help my baby brother" he asked looking worried holding Luigi in his arm but started to panic when he threw up blood on the floor.

The nurse gasped taking Luigi from Mario and running to an open room, Mario tried his best to follow but got stopped by a doctor "let go! I need to be with my baby brother! Let go of me!LUIGI!"

After five hours have gone by and Mario was getting more worried finally seeing his mom come through the door but he simply looked back at the blood on the floor wishing Luigi never had this illness, wishing he had the illness instead of Luigi.

Mario tried his best to hide his tears looking down when he saw the nurse that took Luigi away running over to her "can I go see my little brother" he asked shaking as tears ran down his face.

"Yes, you can his room is on this floor and the number is 43 a- wait!" Before the nurse could finish her sentence Mario ran off looking for his room, the nurse looks at the boy's mother speaking with her as Mario slowly enters Luigi's room and seeing Luigi asleep.

Mario slowly went up to him and softly grabbing his hand then wiping away his tears, Mario looked at Luigi repeating something in his head.
