Principal Igo: "Miss Vergara?"
Calliope made eye contact with her principal as she was still distracted to finding the mysterious girl from the parking lot earlier.
Calliope: "Yes po. Goodmorning Ma'am Igo."
She bowed a little bit and sat on the chair as instructed by the older lady in front of her.
Principal Igo: "Goodmorning din sa iyo, nakaenroll ka na ba?"
Calliope: "Opo, ipaprint ko nalang po ang schedule kay Ma'am Banez."
Principal Igo: "Ok that's good." she stopped writing and gave Calliope a meaningful look. "Are you excited for your Senior year?"
Calliope frowned her eyebrows but slightly nodding her head.
Calliope: "Uhhhh, Opo Ma'am. I guess po."
Principal Igo: "Ok that's good to hear."
Her principal cleared her throat and sat back on her chair putting her hands together.
Principal Igo: "First off, I would just like to say that I hope this school year, you can make the most out of your stay and improve yourself not only as a student but also as a growing adult."
Calliope gave her a perplexed look.
Principal Igo: "I have known you for a few years now Miss Vergara and I know that you are a smart student, your exams have always been high and you do have excellent marks on your schoolworks and projects. BUT, I also know that you only attend a handful of your classes per week and I DO believe that you, Miss Lim & Miss Apuli always get into trouble OR cause it."
Calliope doesn't have to say anything because she knows it's true.
Principal Igo: "I know that Miss Toledo might ask you this question again when she interviews your whole class one on one in a few weeks but... Do you have any plans after high school?"
Calliope thought hard because if she's being completely honest, she doesn't have a concrete plan yet and she hasn't discussed it with her mom about it too. Both have been busy during the summer and her mother, Charlene knows that Calliope only opens up about things when she is ready or else she shuts down completely based on their previous experiences.
So talking about her future after high school, isn't something she has thought this through yet, not even to herself. So she just shrugged her shoulders and gave her principal a flat affect and shook her head meaning she doesn't know yet.
Principal Igo: *sighs* "You are a smart person Miss Vergara and I do believe you are talented and interested in other things besides riding your motorcycle and getting into trouble."
Principal Igo gave her a playful chuckle at the last part but Calliope didn't show any kind of emotion towards her or make any eye contact with her.
Principal Igo: "I can see you with so much potential in life. I hope you can talk to someone that can help you decide or atleast get a perspective of what you want in the future. Hopefully an adult. Or your mom perhaps?"
Calliope took the advice by heart because she knows what Principal Igo meant & it only hit her when someone else has already said it out loud.
Calliope: "Perhaps po." she quietly answered.
Principal Igo: "You know my door is always open if you need any advice. So is Miss Toledo's."
