24 - Melancholy

It's a sad day, melancholic day for the first years. They lost Yuji Itadori. Mio's eyes appear pensive and timid. She lost a new and a good friend. A friend of hers that help her to break through the awkwardness with Satoru. Speaking of Satoru, he didn't give them chances to see Yuji's body for the last time. 

"Hey, why you three looking so sad in the early of the day?" A tall woman with green hair suddenly greet them. Mio didn't know how to respond, so she just look at Megumi and Nobara to answer that question for them. Yet, the two seems confused to. Well, Nobara looks mad.

"Hey, Maki! Maki! Hey!" A faint voice from behind makes the green haired woman turn around.

"Huh? What is it?" She asks. There's a panda back there, along with a short man with violet eyes. Mio didn't say anything, yet she keep on watching their antics.

"You don't know why they're sad? Their classmate just died yesterday! Yesterday!" That panda whisper, well not really whisper. The green haired girl, Maki, looks surprised. Her face turned pale. She is sweating profusely.

"Why- why no one is telling me?! Now, I look like a cold hearted demon queen!" She whisper-yelling the two. The other one reply with 'fish flakes.' Mio narrowed her eyes, as the three seems weird to her.

"We've tried! You're the one who approach them recklessly!" That panda argued. As the three starts to fight, Mio stand up, before cross her arm.

"Who are you three, and why you're here?" She asks. Her braided hair perfectly moves according to the wind's movement. Maki turn around, stopping her arguments with those two. She look at Mio with a smile.

"I'm Maki. That's Panda, and that's Toge Inumaki. We're second year students. I see you're that Mio Sasaki, which Megumi told us before. We have never met because you're having your first mission that day." Maki stated. Mio nod.

"I see... Then, Fushiguro, why you remain quiet if you know them?" Mio sigh, before she turns around. She wants to roll her eyes now and there, but this wasn't the time.

"Well, I forgot."

"Whatever. Anyway, why you're here, Maki senpai?" Mio look at Maki. She smile, before adjust her pole- which she brought since earlier. She holds it dearly.

"I'm sorry for interrupting your mourning session. But, I'm here because I want to you three to join the exchange event with our sister school in Kyoto." She stated. Mio cross her arm once again, thinking.

"Exchange event? What's that?" She's curious. Mio decided to sit down back, before hearing Maki speak.

"It's an event where the students join the event... Testing their skills to each other, coming at each other with their curse energy, power and strength. But yeah, the main thing is, the first day of the event is group competition. We'll split according to Kyoto part and Tokyo part. After that, we would exorcise curses in the event area. That's the basic thing. Oh, as I stated earlier, we could sabotage the other group by fighting and so on, but killing your foe is not an option. Also, usually, on the next day, it's individual competition." Maki explain, long.

Mio nod, before she look at Megumi and Nobara. Then, the panda and the platinum hair man comes forward.

"It's a good event because you can get promoted to a better grade sorcerer without any interruption. This event will be watch by grade 1 sorcerer. They would assess everyone. In the end of the event, they would give their recommendation of any people they think is good enough to be promoted." Panda explain.

"I see. I thought that this event would be good for you know, fourth year, third year?" Nobara asks. Well, Mio thought of that too. Maki rolls her eyes, sigh.

"Those stupid third years are suspended! Even if we have fourth years, fourth years can't join the event. They need to focus on real world skill for a year." She explained. The trio nod, understand.

"I see. Then, you're here because...?" Megumi asked.

"We would train you three." The second years trio stated, simultaneously. 

Mio smile, nod.

"Sure. I'll take part in the event. It's been a while since I could test my limit." Mio stand up.

Nobara and Megumi look at each other before they nod.

"We will join too." They stated.

"It would be a great honor to train you three." Panda stated.

Mio wipes her sweats on her forehead. She just finished her training with the second year. Of course, her partner would be Panda. As she might harm the others with her curse technique, Panda suggested that they should practice with each other. Well, Panda would not die easily though. 

"I think you really have a good technique, Sasaki chan. But, you need to improve your stamina, greatly. I really meant it." He stated. Mio simply nod. Well, it's true though. She need to improve her stamina!

"Thank you for the compliment, senpai. Hm, what kind of training I should do to improve my stamina?" She asks.

"Maybe, you could try running, dancing, swimming and brisk walking." He suggested. Mio simply nod, before she slowly stand up. She look at Nobara, who is practicing with Toge, while Megumi is sparring with Maki. Everyone seems occupied by their practice. Mio looks around. 

"Panda senpai... Can I go first? It looks like it's going to rain." Mio commented. She would probably lying if she said she would train in rain to get stronger. Panda realized that Mio is a fire user, so she must hate rain quite much. He simply nod.

"Sure. You may go." He stated. Mio simply nod, before she walks away. She smile when she met Nobara and Megumi. They look focus but tired. Well, she need to excuse herself first. Mio do some cool down while walking, making sure that she didn't woke up with muscle ache next morning.

Weird. It's near summer time, but why rain is still occur? Mio wonder, why. Well, maybe she need to improve her knowledge about weather after this. Mio sigh, before she walks to her room. The hallway is quite dark and dim, since it's dusk time.

Yet, she nearly scream when a tall figure is standing right in front of her door.

"Sensei?"
