Chapter 15

Nikki's hands sweat on the steering wheel, as he increases the speed of the car, causing swearing from the other drivers on the road. Little does he care now.

The news he received about Janice took him aback and the only clear thing on his mind now is her well-being. He does not know how serious her situation is and what kind of accident she had.

When he went home to Jenice, he was surprised to see Lily, although at that time the woman should have left and Jenice should have been home.

Lily, with a panicked face, told him that she received a call from Jenice's workplace. An accident happened at Jenice's workplace. One serious enough for her to end up in the hospital.

Nikki, disturbed, went and quickly checked on Sarah, who was sleeping in her bed without a care.

He asked Lily to stay with the little girl for a while longer. The elderly woman nodded and said she would stay with Sarah as long as needed. She told him to just to go to Jenice at the hospital and bring her good news about her.

From then until now, a vein throbs in his head. He is so shaken and tense because he doesn't know exactly what happened to Jenice. The sky would fall upon him if he will find out that something very serious had happened to her. No. He banishes these impure thoughts from his mind. Jenice is strong. She will be fine.

Finally, he arrives at the hospital where Lily told him that Jenice was taken. He quickly parks the car, jumps out of it and runs towards the entrance.

Next, he goes like lightning to the reception where he sees a young woman. He hurriedly asks her if she knows where Jenice Leone is and if she can give him information about her. The young woman tries to calm him down and tells him the floor and the room where Jenice is. But she does not give more details.

Nikki quickens his pace in the hallway. Genius is one floor up. There is no point in taking the elevator, so he rushes up the stairs. Finally, he reaches the floor where Jenice is and tries to remember her room number.

He sees Sandra who seems to be waiting by a door, with a downcast and concerned look. The brunette sees him and her eyes fill with tears.

"Oh, you... You're here," she stammers as Nikki stops in front of her, catching his breath.

"How is Jenice?"

"I don't know anything for sure yet," Sandra speaks plaintively. "I'm still waiting for news."

"What happened? What exactly happened to her?"

Sandra tells him everything in detail. All she saw was how Jenice fell abruptly from the stage, the pool moving.

"How the hell could something like this happen?" Nikki looks like he's getting irritated.

"I don't know either," Sandra shrugs. "It happened so fast. I think that Jenice had the intention to stop, because I think she thought something was wrong with the pool. But it was too late."

Nikki wants to add something to the discussion, but a doctor appears from a room that is most precisely Jenice's room.

Both he and Sandra settle their attention on the doctor who is approaching them.

"Are you Miss Leone's family?" He asks calmly.

"No," Sandra shakes her head. "I am her work colleague. I saw when she had the accident. He is her boyfriend," the young woman gestures towards Nikki who makes eye contact with the doctor. "The only family member Jenice has is her four-year-old daughter."
