It was almost his bed time when a phone call from his father came. Seungmin stared at the lighted screen of his phone for a moment, thoughts running on all sorts of possibilities of reasons for the call, before actually accepting it.
And he wondered if it was a good decision because now, he finds himself sitting at the long table for an abrupt, unforeseen dinner that weekend in the main house with his family. Well, most of them. The last time he had joined the family dinner, he ended up leaving with a bad experience. And never coming back since then.
So it was safe to say that Seungmin wished the ground would open up and swallow him whole before his father could say any of the 'good news' he was planning to share with him. No news is ever good if his mother, step mother, is looking at him as if he had thrown her precious chihuahua into the oven at 180°C and served her the thoroughly baked dog with sone ketchup on the side.
To further support his theory of bad news, his half brother, an older brother nonetheless, is currently sitting beside him. His hyung is continuously stuffing himself with the medium rare steak of his, even smiling and laughing lightly at the small talks he was making with their father.
Oh, this is so not good at all.
Seungmin could barely finish his meal before their attention were called by the head of the family. He braced himself when the atmosphere turned quiet, with tension filling in the void. Goosebumps almost crawled all over his body when their father let his stern gaze rest on him.
"Seungmin, my dear son."
"Yes, father."
From his peripheral vision, Seungmin noticed his hyung put down his utensils and rested his palms on his thighs, back straight. Now Seungmin could not help but really wonder what is the matter that is seemingly very important for him to be called here at the main house.
"I shall be correct to assume you are aware of your brother's promotion," the elder took a few sips from his cup of herbal tea. Well, Seungmin would be equivalent to living in the mountains if he did not know of that. There are so many coverage of his brother taking over the CEO position wherever he is. So he gave an affirmative answer.
"Channie is turning twenty eight this year and he has plenty to manage. I do not doubt his ability as my successor, no. But, with a high position, comes many...say, propositions."
Hearing their father talking about Chan, praising Chan, is nothing unfamiliar to Seungmin. It was no secret to anyone in the household of the favour the head of the family has for the oldest child. So Seungmin just nodded along to everything that was said, silently acknowledging the recognition his brother, indeed, deserve.
"After a thorough discussion and a careful consideration, Channie and I have come to a decision to have you, Seungmin, lending a hand to your brother for one of the most beneficial propositions."
That triggered the alarm in his head, yelling at him to be on guard. He has no idea where this was going but he does know he has no choice except to do whatever it is that is going to be told to him.
Swallowing the growing lump in his throat, Seungmin then kept a leveled voice, "What may it be that needs my assistance?"
With just a brief moment of pause, their father relayed the agenda of the proposition.
"A gay marriage."

Well, there goes the start. Again, I am still unsure of the exact trajectory this story is going to take but enjoy the first chapter! (am not sure when the next one is gonna be up, though!)
