"Oh my god, who did I kill in my previous life?" Hyunjin exasperatedly cried out and clung onto his best friend right after they exited the exam hall for their second paper. "Seungminie please tell me you find the questions easy. Please say you'll get an A+ for this paper."

Seungmin exhaled in resignation, "Unfortunately, I don't think I'd get an A even. The last section really wiped out all the info from my brain."

Hearing his admission made Hyunjin whined and he shook the younger's body in retaliation. Seungmin just let him as he is too tired to even jab him in the side.

"If you say that then I don't even have a chance to get a B! Why is the professor being so ruthless for this last exam!"

Exhaling in resignation, Hyunjin then detached himself from the younger. They have stopped before Seungmin's car and Hyunjin asked, "Are you stopping by your apartment again?"

"Why? Wanna snack?" Seungmin opened the car door. It was already four in the evening when they exited the exam hall and the last meal they had was about three hours ago. "We can order chicken and burgers."

They spent about two hours eating, resting and just chatting about anything that is not exam-related. Until the hour hits quarter to seven, Seungmin cleaned up the take away boxes and empty drink cans, and it is cue for Hyunjin to groan in distaste.

"Get up, Hyunjinie. Go to the kitchen and study."

"But I'm comfortable here," the other stretched his limbs and let out another long groan followed by a big yawn, his body covering the length of the couch. Seungmin gave him a brief pointed look, "You'll fall asleep in like, two minutes."

Only after Hyunjin huffed out a defeated 'fine' and dragged himself along with his bag to the kitchen counter, did Seungmin walked into his room to study with ease. He set a timer for an hour and only exited his room when it blasted.

He was aiming for a glass of water but halted in his steps when he caught a glimpse of what his best friend is doing. With hands on his hips and a frown etched on his forehead, Seungmin nagged, "That is not Business Management."

Hyunjin hummed while his hand is still actively working, "It isn't."

"The next paper is in four days, Hwang Hyunjin," reminded the younger before finally moving to get himself some water. "Why are you sketching? The deadline is after our exams, isn't it?"

"My brain isn't in the mood for studying, Seungminie. So I thought, hey, why not be productive with other stuff so I figured why not finish your husband's hotel blueprint."

Downing the entirety of the water, Seungmin replied as he washed the glass he used, "Well, you'll have to continue that at your home. I'm going back in a bit."

He was switching off the lights and making sure he has all his things inside his bag when he felt vibrations inside the pocket of his pants.

•••••incoming call
Father

The hand hovering above the door handle froze, like his whole body. His brain went haywire and Seungmin is left staring at his screen with dread bleeding in his system.

No. This cannot be happening.

"Good eve–"

"Where is your manner, Kim Seungmin. Must I hear about your final examinations from your brother? Have you forgotten who shelter you when you are just a kid?"

His father did not yell, no he did not even raise his voice. But hostility and disappointment dripped from every word and suffocates Seungmin's chest without mercy.

Fuck no. This cannot be fucking happening. Why in the world does Chan needs to be up in his business even now? Shit. Shit.

"Sorry, father. I was swamped with revisions–"

"You better be using that brain. I do not want an incompetent assistant for Channie. Do not disappoint me, Kim Seungmin."

Just like that the line ended and Seungmin regretted ushering Hyunjin home. He can't....he can't go back now. His brother will be there in that mansion, Seungmin can't.

He did not know how many minutes has passed, with him just standing in front of his door and staring into the void. Until he felt his phone vibrated twice.

Wonwoo hyung-ah
< Seungmin
< Young master was asking about you just now.
You are on the way home, yes?

Seungmin's vision blurred and he aggressively wiped at his eyes before any of the tears could come out and stained his cheeks. Who cares if he is being pathetic? He doesn't feel like going back. Even if he wants to see Minho after a long day. His phone vibrated once more.

Wonwoo hyung-ah
< Seungmin?

Im sorry hyung >
Im too tired at the moment >
Please let Minho know I'll be coming back
tomorrow instead >
I already ate with Hyunjinie so dont worry >

There. A proof of him being a pathetic child. The time showed is past eight already. Minho must have wrapped up work early again. Seungmin smiled to himself as he turned away from the door and dragged himself to his room through the dark.

If a tear slipped and slid down his cheek, then it was for Seungmin to know and ignore.
