Moving Day

The news of the union between the first son of the Bang family and the mysterious daughter of the Lee family has been the talk of people everywhere Seungmin goes. That does not surprise him at all, he had expected it even, but it still disheartened him.

He was the one sitting beside Lee Minho yesternight in front of the registrar. His signature is the one inked beside Lee Minho's signature in the official documents.

Lee Minho is married to Kim Seungmin.

Sigh. Seungmin shook his head, clearing the depressing thoughts that were about to take over his mind. He should continue his essay and hopefully finish it before dinner time. Hyunjin had offered to bring pizza and cola over and he knows his best friend would definitely nag at him if he saw him still glued to his study.

"You know, I kinda thought it'd be hard to meet up with you once you're married," the other started, third pizza slice in his hand already half-eaten. "But here we are munching on greasy food in your six years old apartment."

"I just got married barely twenty four hours ago."

Hyunjin shrugged, "Don't know. Just thought you'd be making babies with your husband–"

"Hwang Hyunjin!"

The other dodged the cushion that was aimed at his head while yelling in protest, "What?! You're supposed to be having a honeymoon! Not cramming assignments!"

His face heated up a little bit by his best friend's comment. Seungmin refused to entertain him on the first part. He cleared his throat and took a few sips from his cola, all the while ignoring Hyunjin's expectant eyes.

"He's a Managing Director, Hyunjin-ah. And I have to study. Besides, we don't have any other reasons to meet up. Of course, I'm gonna still live here."

They have no use for him other than serving as indication of their partnership, tying the two parties together legally. It is still Chan that they need to expand their business and rake in more profits. So that was the logical conclusion he came to from everything that he has observed for the past month.

But logic seemed to leave him when the very next morning, Seungmin opened his door to reveal Han Jisung standing ramrod straight in his signature black suit with a bright teal tie. He blinked, doubting his eyesight since he was not wearing his glasses, although he very well know it is not that bad.

What is Minho's assistant doing at his apartment?!

The said assistant flashed him a wide smile, making his chubby cheeks prominent, "Good morning, Seungmin-ssi! I am here to assist with your moving!"

"My what–"

Right as he said that, two bulky men appeared behind the cheery assistant, dressed in similar black suits but with black ties, and Seungmin had to hold onto his door frames to stop them from taking any step further.

"Wait! Can you, uh, kindly explain the situation first?" frowned Seungmin, eyes darting from the bulky men to a smiley Han Jisung. "I'm not about to just let people into my house and touch my things."

After a short, concise briefing of his purpose that was escorting Seungmin on his moving into his newly-wed house by the order of Minho, the former was left with trailing a slower pace behind the assistant with his big luggage in his hand.

It was a ten minutes debate and another ten minutes persuasion on packing his own stuffs and letting him carry his own luggage as Han Jisung insisted for the men to do it for him. Seungmin commented with bafflement, "It's only one luggage. It won't kill me."

For the record, Seungmin had expected the house to be...extravagant, much like the main house of theirs. He was correct in that aspect but the wide, neatly mowed lawn and artistically trimmed floras leading up to the high roofed mansion still made Seungmin speechless.

He was relieved, though, for the private location of the place. There was even security guards hired at the tall gate they had passed through and he knows they might come in handy. You never know what will go down in the complex business world.

"Welcome to your new home, Seungmin-ssi!" Han Jisung gestured with his left arm towards the open area, that he can see is connected with the living room, and a grand staircase towards the back. "Now the gentlemen can take your luggage to the second master bedroom! Unless you want to explore on your own, I shall have you familiarised with this place first."

"Uhm," Seungmin watched as his luggage was dragged away from him before meeting eyes with the grinning assistant, politely awaiting his response. "Sure. Lead the way."

They started with the grand living room and a smaller one behind a double door where Seungmin could see himself spending his 'me-time' at, before continuing to the dining hall. He was mesmerised by the choice of design so far, modern but minimalist, yet still captivatingly elegant, that he almost missed the presence sitting on one of the dining chairs.

"Good morning, Director," greeted his assistant. "It is an hour until your meeting with the representatives of ArchiTXTure. The car has been readied for you."

"You came late."

The statement can have two possible implications but as much as Seungmin wanted to refuse from believing it, that is clearly directed to him and it actually caught him off guard. Han Jisung taking a step back just confirmed it.

For starters, he did not expect any interactions to happen between him and Minho, much less a small talk. He subtly cleared his throat.

"No one gave me any heads up," Seungmin weakly shrugged, feeling small when Minho lifted his head from the tablet in his hand, to meet his eyes. He contemplated on breaking the somewhat heavy eye contact but decided to hold it, as to not give his nervousness away.

Why is he nervous anyway? His heart rate is picking up as if he just drunk three cups of americanos in one sitting, and he is not used to this.

"You missed your brother," Minho casually added.

Seungmin did not know that alone can abruptly shut down the funny feeling before. Oh.

"Oh," he dumbly reacted, quickly averting his eyes as he pretended to cough into his fist.

What was he expecting? Being invited to live with his husband in a nice mansion thinking it was a permission from Minho to kindle some sort of intimacy amidst their in-a-way-contracted marriage even if they will sleep in different rooms?  Yes, a small, stubbornly naive part of him was expecting, hoping, that it might be it.

But of course, Seungmin was never really life's favourite.

There was a moment of silence after his awkward response until the sound of a chair scraping smoothly across the tile filled the air momentarily. As much as he is aware that he is being...childish, Seungmin could not bring himself to meet eyes with Minho still.

"Chan-ssi resides in the main guest room. Don't walk into the wrong room."

And if Minho walked out of the dining hall, looking handsome in his maroon suit and metaphorically stringing along the black clouds that were cocooning the younger before, it was only for Seungmin and his racing heart to know.
