CHAPTER SIXTY-NINE

YOSHIKO WATCHED ASTA from afar, holding her hands to her chest. She felt like a damsel in distress for not being able to help Asta. But again, she knew very well that Asta could do this without her help. It just irritated her how she could only watch.

"I-I was wrong!!" Lardos shouted but Yoshiko could tell he was lying. "I'll stop hurting people!! Spare me!!"

Asta looked back at Yoshiko who quickly made an 'x' mark with her arms. Asta got the correct message rather quickly.

"Please, take this sword out! I can't get it out on my own!" Lardos shouted.

"..." Asta was quiet. "NO!!!"

"Wha..." Lardos started.

"I know how strong you are, so I'm not gonna get careless! If I take out that and you attack me, our chances of winning are small because Yoshiko's not a full strength!" Asta shouted. "I'm dumb so I can't afford to mess up again!"

"Ugh! No... I'm begging you! If this keeps up, I'll die!" Lardos shouted once again, lying.

Asta turned to face Yoshiko who again made an 'x' with her arms, signalling that Lardos was lying again.

"That's not enough to kill anybody! Yoshiko says you keep lying!" Asta said.

'Rrgh... dammit. He's an idiot, so I thought I'd be able to play on his emotions but he's not buying it... dammit, dammit, dammit!! This little... he's actually battle-tested!' Lardos thought.

"And so, I'm gonna whack you again and knock you out!" Asta shouted raising his heavier sword.

Go Asta! Yoshiko cheered but stopped when she noticed pain in her chest.

She coughed and covered her mouth. It went on for a moment but when she pulled her hand back, there was blood. Her eyes widened.

What...?

"You curse... it's started to spread... As soon as this is over, we'll go visit you father. It's most likely that he has a way to stop the curse from spreading at an early stage,"

Really?

"Yes. He had been researching a way to rid of the curse for a long time now. If anything, he knows of a way to rid you of the curse,"

Yoshiko looked back up and nodded. She probably wasn't in any condition to fight but she still had to try.

"Damn you!" Lardos shouted as he created an attack with this hand.

'This is my remaining magic. If I attack him and he blocks it, I really am finished!' He thought.

Attacking the ground instead, Lardos propelled himself away from Asta and towards elsewhere.

"Ghk!" He groaned and summoned another spell.

'I'll just have to use reinforcement magic and pull it out by force!' He thought as he pulled out Asta's sword from his body. 'I've got enough magic left for two shots!'

Yoshiko's eyes widened when he came towards Fana. He grabbed her around the neck with his arm and pulled her closely.

"That bastard!" Asta shouted.

Fana!!!

"You're Fana, right?" Lardos asked.

"Lardos!" Fana shouted.

"I dunno how you got it, but bring out that huge magic from before!! Right now!!" Lardos ordered.

"Huge magic?! What are you talking about?!" Fana demanded.
