CHAPTER SEVENTY-FOUR

VANESSA STOOD OVER the Queen who was staring at the floor in defeat.

"You and I have no bonds," Vanessa said. "And don't ever think about going after Yoshiko again,"

'Impossible...' The Queen thought as she remembered a past with Vanessa.

"Your majesty, look! I made a doll out of thread!" A young Vanessa said, showing the Queen her thread doll.

"My... that's very well done," the Queen praised the young girl.

"You know what?! I want to use my magic to make everybody smile!" Vanessa told her with a bright smile on her face.

"Heh heh heh! I'm sure you'll manage it, Vanessa," the Queen said with a smile.

'I suppose I sought perfection so fiercely that I forgot something important,' the Queen thought. 'There is a strength that can be gained from unvarnished feelings precisely because they are imperfect... Is that why that man was so strong? Because of his love for Miyuki?'

She looked up at Vanessa who looked down with an emotionless expression.

'Magic that could not come into being under my supervision because it is free and imperfect,'

The Queen turned away from her.

"Do as you please. You've utterly defeated me," the Queen said. "And I won't ever go after that girl. If she's driven away from the things she loves, she'll destroy to the world,"

The Queen turned back to Vanessa.

"If that girl loses trust in everyone, even for a single moment, she'll go berserk and destroy the world. Make sure she doesn't," the Queen said.

"I won't," Vanessa said. "I'll make sure that she's loved forever. Even if the world's against her, the Black Bulls and I will still be with her!"

'Just how much influence does that young girl have? Strange. But at the same time...I'm glad...?'

"We...won?" Noelle asked.

Yoshiko had come from behind Noelle and hugged her tightly.

"No...elle!" Yoshiko said. "Noelle!"

"Yoshi...ko?!" Noelle said turning to her. "Yoshiko! Did you just speak?!"

"Mh-hm!" Yoshiko said. "Only...a little..."

The two turned to Vanessa and ran up to her, hugging her.

"Vane...ssa!" Yoshiko said. "Vanessa!"

"Vanessa, that was fantastic!" Noelle shouted. "It was your magic! We won with you magic!"

"Mh-hm!" Yoshiko said. "I'm...happy!"

"Noelle! Yoshiko!" Vanessa shouted, returning the hug. "Aw, you're both just the cutest!"

"Hee hee!" Yoshiko laughed.

Currently, the Black Bulls and Ryuko stood in the Witch Queen's home. Ryuko had put his haori over Yoshiko because her clothes were all ripped.

'She healed all of us at once...this Witch Queen is really incredible!' Finral thought.

"Hey, Yoshiko! You can speak a little now, right?" Finral asked her. "Can you say my name?"

"Mis...ter... Fin...ral...!" Yoshiko said. "Mister Finral!"

Finral nearly fainted from the cuteness of her voice and actions.
