Who knew how tumultuous one's youth can be

Age: 6

My mom and I stood in front of an all too familiar door that I began to recognize at an early age because of how frequent we came.

The door opened and there stood a woman in her mid twenties with medium length brown hair and a smile on her face as he rubbed her enlarged stomach.

She welcomed us in and when I entered, seated on the couch was Hamin.

He was slightly shorter than me and had straight sandy brown hair and caramel colored eyes.

He's someone that I see way too often due to our moms being friends since middle school.

Before I could go with Hamin, my mother stopped me for a second and asked her friend for a favor.

"I know it hasn't been long since they enrolled in school, but I was wondering if Hamin could help her out every now and then if that's okay with you? Don't get me wrong, (Y/n) is doing well right now, but...I was never the brightest in school and her father is always occupied. I just want a good future for her," Sheepishly said my mother.

My father, a foreigner, met my mother while he was traveling and it was like love at first sight when they met. True to her words, my mother didn't excel in school and married at an early age without completing her undergraduate studies.

She was happy with the choice she made and was elated to have a family. My father adapted to a new environment and was employed at an office and eventually helped my mother run an online businesses where she sold anything she would make by hand.

"Of course! Hamin is very bright for his age and it's something I'm really proud of! It would give Hamin even more time to practice and study!" Chuckled his mother.

A bright smile appeared on my mom's face as she repeatedly thanked her and allowed me to go with Hamin where he lead me to his room and sat himself down on the rug next to a round table.

"Which one do you need help with?" He said in a bored tone with his arm propped on the table and a hand under his chin.

"This one," I pulled out my book and pointed to a math problem that I had trouble understanding.

"That's easy though," he scoffed as he stared at me with a face that read 'Are you dumb?'

"I'm smart but not that smart," I shot back. "Just show me how to do it."

He proceeded to explain how to solve it and every other problem I needed help with and after five minutes, we were done.

"Thanks." I placed my belongings inside my backpack, but kept my hand inside my backpack and asked, "Do you want to play a game or color? I brought a new coloring book for us."

"I don't feel like it today," he responded as he turned his head away from.

I eyed him and the way he was acting and asked "What's up with you?"

He sighed and remained quiet for a minute before answering. "I heard my mom say that she wants to leave me at my grandma's house for awhile before my younger brother is born."

"What's wrong with that?"

"I get bored there! I want to be here at home."

"Maybe you can ask her if you can stay with me? My mom is going to visit your mom when your brother is born."

His eyes lit up for a second at the idea and asked, "You think so?"

"Yeah!"

"But you ask her."

"Why me?" I questioned.

"She likes you and she will agree if you ask her in front of your mom. You have to be clever about this."

"Fine," I sighed as I followed after him to ask for permission and luckily, she said yes.

And two days later, Jaemin was born.

A/N: I'm excited to write this and something that popped up recently. Check out Seasons of Blossoms, it's really good yet painful.

I love Hamin and Somang but really wanted to try a reader insert for this. I hope you enjoy!
