~One Year Later~ (Age: 7)
"Jaemin is so cute! He's getting bigger everyday," I squealed as I sat next to Hamin who carried Jaemin in his arms.
Jaemin and Hamin looked exactly the same except Jaemin had wavy hair.
"And getting chubby cheeks," laughed Hamin as he lightly pinched his younger brother's cheeks making him giggle.
"You were the same as him," I teased.
"Haha," he sarcastically laughed as he stuck his tongue out at me.
Hamin's mother walked into the room and scooped up Jaemin in her arms while looking at Hamin and said, "Hamin, you need to start on your homework. I let you put it off for an hour because of Jaemin, but that's long enough."
"Can I do mine with him?" I asked her.
"Yes, but make sure he studies on his own after."
I hesitantly nodded my head and looked at Hamin who had a glum appearance as he began to walk to his room.
We both started our homework and we were able to finish it in half an hour.
"You're not going to study huh," I eyed him and he shook his head.
"Since you're not going to..." I pulled out a few romance comics that I have been into lately and handed him one. "Let's read these. Just make sure to hide it with one of our workbooks if your mom comes in."
He lightly snickered with a smile on his face as he stared at the comic in his hand and whispered under his breath, "You learned how to be sneaky."
We stayed in his room reading for an hour before it was time to for me head on home.
And as time went on, Hamin and I would continue to spend time together every passing day with his mom losing faith in trying to push her unfulfilled dream onto him.
Hamin was at ease now that his mom wasn't on his back every single day and savored every moment he experienced whether it was new or old because in reality, he was still a child.
A child should be able to enjoy their childhood and not have it robbed from them.
His caramel eyes were shining ever so brightly and his warm smile remained contagious whenever I saw him.
But that all changed when Hamin reached the age of thirteen and Jaemin reached the age of seven.
At that age, I saw the way their mom raised her voice at Jaemin and made him brim with tears for not being able to solve a question that was simple in her eyes.
"I feel bad for your brother," I muttered to Hamin as I peeked my head out of his room and saw Jaemin and their mom seated together as she pinched the bridge of her nose after he failed to comprehend her explanation.
That continued for days until Hamin had enough.
"I don't want my brother to go through the same thing I did. I think she'll change her mind after she sees these." Hamin pulled out his test scores and each page had a perfect score.
"Woah. Not even I did that good."
"Because you're not a genius," he answered with a playful smirk before he left to the room to show his mom.
I poked my head out the door once more and could hear their conversation unfold.
"I'll get good grades or whatever it is you want. So...let Jaemin do what he wants," I heard Hamin say.
That day was the start of his mom pushing her unfulfilled dream onto him by controlling his life and his future.
But little did she know that was also the start of his misery
