"A date with just the three of us should be fun," I laughed as Hamin and I held Jaemin's hands as we walked down the road in the late afternoon.
"He really wanted to come see you," mentioned Hamin with a smile on his face as he saw a nine year old Jaemin grinning from ear to ear with rosy cheeks.
"I really like being with you," said Jaemin as he looked up at me.
My heart melted and I gave him a quick hug and muttered, "You're growing up too quick. I miss when I would always take care of you."
A warm smile appeared on Hamin's lips at the mere sight of the two people he cared most about in this world.
"Where should we go?" I asked.
"I want to get some ice cream!" Exclaimed Jaemin.
"There's our answer," responded Hamin.
The three of us walked to a nearby ice cream shop with Jaemin and I getting the same flavor while Hamin bought a mint chocolate chip ice cream.
"You're crazy," I shook my head. "Even Jaemin doesn't like it."
Jaemin scrunched his nose when his saw his brother's ice cream and playfully stuck his tongue out.
There was a round table outside with a blue parasol in the middle of the table. Jaemin and Hamin sat together while I sat across from them.
"I think I've come to realize something after watching Jaemin grow up," I spoke up.
"What is it?"
"I think I want to try babysitting over the summer."
"I don't think any other kid besides Jaemin will like you," he teased.
"Hey! I'm sure they will!"
"I'm kidding. I think it could work out for you," he commented.
"You really think so?" I eagerly said.
"If you show them the same affection you showed to Jaemin then I think so. Not only that, but you're also...lovable?"
His lips touched his ice cream right after that because he could feel his ears going red. It was something obvious that I could see from where I was seating and I lightly laughed because I found it cute.
"Am I lovable?" Asked Jaemin with a blotch of ice cream on the corner of his lips.
"Of course you are. And so is your brother," I smiled.
He thought the ice cream would suffice enough to cool him down, but his ears were burning again and he turned away in embarrassment.
My laughter and teasing grew for another minute before we carried on with our day by visiting an arcade and going to a nearby park.
Jaemin ran off towards the play structure and slid down the slide while Hamin and I watched him enjoy himself.
"Should we join him?" I nudged.
"I think we're a little too big for that now," he laughed.
"There's no harm reliving our childhood, so let's go play." I grabbed his hand and pulled him along as we joined Jaemin.
An hour had passed and the three of us lay on the grass in panted breaths after exerting our energy by running around and playing on the structure.
A content smile graced our faces as our eyes gazed up at the changing hues in the sky.
"I'm... thirsty... I need water." Jaemin rolled into his stomach and ran off towards the water fountain that was a mere few feet away.
Hamin sat upright and looked over at me and moved the strands of hair that were on my face. I turned my head to the left to look at him and said, "This was fun."
"It was better than I expected," he agreed and broke the stem of the flower from the grass and kept his eyes glued to mine with one thought crossing his mind that he finally manage to say.
"Will you go out with me?" He held out the tiny flower in front of my face with both of our cheeks growing red.
"Yes," I answered as I took the small flower from his fingertips, but rather than retracting his hand, he slipped and intertwined his hand with mine.
He gently held my hand and didn't let go even when Jaemin came running back at full speed and jumped on us.
The love that has been growing ever so slowly between us over the years has finally bloomed
But a flower can die without proper care
And so can love
