Neteyam's POV
One after another. The woodsprite kept on coming very, very slowly. My racing heart started to calm down.
"Some nights, they would come to visit me." Enid's sweet voice filled my ears as she told it. She let go of the last braid she did and watched the woodsprites with me.
"They do?" her close face and the sight of the pure spirits seem to be fighting for my attention. So I decided to watched them through her eyes instead.
She nodded with a smile. "Every time something memorable would happen, they'll come at night to visit. They kind of there for me, to accompany me. I figured they'd be here tonight after our discovery."
I watched the countless woodsprite. They were dancing in the air, putting up a magnificent show just for us. The dark night suddenly felt brighter than day.
"Like a parade, they come and entertain me. They always light up my day." Enid continued, her face was glistening. A very sweet expression that worth capturing for.
"Enid, do you know what they are?"
"Honestly, no. My parents' books didn't include them and I tried to research about them by catching one, but my conscience can't seem to do it. Until, I just gave up against my own will and thought of them as friends."
"Enid, they are called woodsprite. They are seeds from the Soul Tree. They are very pure spirits. We, the Na'vi, believe that they give us signs from Eywa, they are the deliverer of her message. My father, Jake Sully, was here mainly because of them. Eywa chose him through the woodsprite. They must be here, showing up to you, because of something."
She looked at me like comprehending my statements. "They are seeds?" the only thing that came out of her mouth.
"Yes, they are, and very sacred. We use them to plant with our decease clan members so their spirit will go with Eywa."
"Is that why, it grew?" she said to herself, dazed.
"What grew?"
She looked at me again and bit her lip. "Look, 5 years ago, when they visited me like this, something happened. It only happened one time but during their parade, I watched it until it ended. But after they all past, there's this woodsprite larger than the rest. It was slow and as if hypnotising me. It floated towards me. When I held my hands for it, like a butterfly, it stayed right on top of my palms. Then unexpectedly, its light started to flicker like running out of battery. Then the light stopped permanently and layed withered in my hand. I thought it was dead, I made a conclusion that it was an insect so I was planning to cut it open to experiment, but I found myself burying it somewhere here in the forest. A week later, it sprouted. I thought it was just some random tree."
My jaw slowly dropped hoping that she was joking. I continuesly shook my head, still not believing. "No, no, no. That must be a mistake. They don't just grow like that. I've never seen it grow myself. It's very, very rare and they grow alone, I think by themselves and by will of Eywa."
She blinked couple of times. "I.. I don't know." she whispered doubting she just said earlier. "But I always come there. It has this long bioluminescent vines as their leaves and these woodsprite you call, would always fly past by it."
I was taken aback. "Have you ever seen a Soul Tree before, Enid?"
She shook her head. "No."
I had to put my hand on my mouth, barely getting some air. "It's not possible."
She leaned closer to me. "I was actually planning to show it to you after the parade of the woodsprite but would you like me to take you there, now?"
I was drown with her stare, the loud beats of my heart, and the information processing in my mind that everything feels like a dream, but despite that, I unconsciously nodded my head. "Yes."
