Neteyam's POV

Love amidst war.

What's more exciting than this?

Waking up with the woman you've always wanted and knowing she's your mate for your whole life.

The morning seems like there's no chaos outside this forest. The sun was shining brightly and giving life to the things around us, making them look magical than they've ever been.

I looked at the woman beside me who's peacefully sleeping over my arm. I don't know what she's doing at her human body as of now, but just her body with mine, makes my heart flutter, remembering the enchanting moment last night.

I took some of her hair strands that covered her face and put it behind her back so I could see all her magnificent features. Her hair is already beautiful, but if she wants to braid it like ours, I'd be more than willing to oblige to do it for her.

Is it selfish for me to think about our future alone even though there's still problem out there?

I don't know how long I was staring at my woman but her eyelids started moving then slowly, opened her eyes. Her eyes met mine and I can't help but smile.

Someday, this will be normal for us.

"Hey, good morning, sunshine." I greeted. She just looked at me further before she rose up and wiped her eyes. I also rose up beside her.

"It doesn't actually sound sweet as you try to make it to be." she replied with her morning voice, still wiping her eyes.

I smiled. "Oh yea? Well, you have to get used to it."

Finally, I caught her attention and we both smiled at each other. "Good morning." she greeted back and I leaned my head closer to her to give her a kiss. She didn't flinch nor move away, instead, she closed her eyes.

She smells like me.

She pulled away and put her forehead against mine. "I need to get back to the lab now." she whispered that made my heart sadden.

I took her hands and looked her in the eyes. "Can we stay here like this for a little while?"

She chuckled. "You know we can't. We still have our jobs to do."

"Come on..." I tilted my head and put her hair behind her ear then gave her a smirk. "...we can do it again."

This time, her chuckle became louder as she stood up. "You need to get up too because you'll take me back with your ikran." she said holding the loincloth she was wearing last night which now, she's wearing the one given by our family.

Our family's design suits her well.

I frowned and forcefully stood up. "Fine." I sighed but still gave my woman a smile.

She took her last glance at the soul tree before she lead the way, leaping on the stones. As she leaped on the ground there was a familiar creature that appeared from the grasses.

"George." Enid happily said and knelt down to pet him.

"Wait, I though he's infected the last time we saw him?"

Enid shot me a look. "Don't you dare judge him like that. That's him trying his best to become a wild animal like the others. And kids are the least likely to be infected because they have strong immune system. They've got stronger defense system."

"Yeah, of course." I nodded.

Sometimes, I have no idea what she says but I love the way she says it.
