Next morning, Levi blinked his eyes open and squinted around to see his bubba already awake and playing with his toys.
Calling out in his sleepy voice, his arms were soon filled with the human ball of fluff.
"Dadda! Wakey!"
Lenny settled on his chest still clinging to Levi's neck. Smooching a kiss, he finally woke up with the bundle in his arms.
"Good morning to you too young man."
Rubbing their noses together earned a slight giggle from the kid.
"Let's have a bubble bath, hmm? Or...... Wait a min, where is your papa? Wasn't he with us yesterday night?"
Lenny cutely titled his head in confusion and started looking for his papa while Levi looked at the clock to check if Mason had gone for work.
"Well bubba, your papa is sure not out for work. Come lets brush our teeth and play hide-n-seek with papa."
His mood from previous night is carried over today, making him to enjoy fully. Both freshened up after an ample amount of splashing and giggles.
Carrying the kid, Levi entered the hall leading to the kitchen with attached dining area. And for a second, he thought he had gone into someone else's home.
It was a mess.
A complete mess with burnt vessels laying haphazardly on the counter and several indistinguishable dark globs splattered all over the floor and tiled walls. The sink was filled with water to its brim with soap suds spilling over and smoke was starting to make its way out of the closed lid from the pan on the stove.
Flour was spread everywhere turning every vessel white and even on the cupboards.
It seems as though some animals had a fight in the kitchen. Taking deep breaths and snatching Lenny, he turned around to run away in search of Mason.
Just as he opened his mouth to scream, he bumped into a hard wall of muscles.
Mason held him so that he wouldn't fall down. Then saw the panic and fear in his eyes.
"S-sir, there m-might be s-some animals..... L-look..."
Levi pointed at the mess fearing there might still be some dangerous animal hiding in the house.
Mason's ears turned into slight pink on hearing this and he tried to calm Levi.
"Hey hey snowflake. It's ok. Nothing is hear."
"No sir. T-there.... See this mess...."
Mason scratched his head and turned crimson all over. He steadied Levi before trying to explain.
"Uhm.... Levi, it's Mason first. Secondly, snowflake... Uhm... I j-just want to... Uhm... Ah, I-I just wanted to c-cook for you.... Ah... Sorry."
His voice trailed off into a whisper at the end. Lenny squirmed down from his arms when Levi was busy analysing the situation at hand. He looked at the damage, then at the embarrassed Mason several times before bursting out into laughter.
After few seconds Levi controlled his laughter yet there was smile on his face making Mason's heart do flip-flop in his chest.
"Ah, ok. S-so di you make anything."
"Uhm. Yes but it's edible.... I guess...."
The family of trio sat around the dining table to dig into their plates of half-burnt eggs and pancakes. Taste wasn't an issue when all of them were hungry and they simply gobbled up. Thankfully at least, Lenny had a decent meal of fruits and cereals.
