"Levi? It's me Levi. Mason. Can you please look at me?"

But Levi was immersed in fear, and his mind has overlapped the image of Robert with Mason.

Trembling lips had him keen and make agonizing sounds which Mason couldn't understand anything but tugged harshly at his chest. He only knew that Levi is petrified.

Lenny on the other hand was eager to meet his dada. He squirmed until his father lost his grip on him let him down, after which he scrambled across the bed to get to his dada. His happiness knew no boundaries.

"DADA!"

However, seeing Levi flinch away from him, Lenny stopped mid-step, and turned to look at his father. Confusion and specks of sorrow has now covered his tiny face with not a single trace of joy left. On the other hand, Levi had been terrified by the yell. So with the muddled consciousness, he curled tighter into a ball and rocked himself.

Mason was shaking uncontrollably with two different emotions warring inside him. His extreme rage and sadness has left him blind with the crave for vengeance. His vision tunneled into a narrow curled form and he spiralled further into an abyss of hatred and pity. A startled cry abruptly woke him from his fury just to notice his son is trying to burrow himself into Levi.

Not able to do that, the pitiful kid is bawling his eyes.

"Dada! Pwease. Dada!"

Lenny was fumbling around his dad to get inside the tight structure but was not successful. Finally he plopped onto his butt and made grabby hands to pick up. Yet his dada's mind was far away from here, even if he is physically present.

Levi couldn't recognize his own child but rather felt someone going to hit him again, trying to drag him out of his safety cocoon. So he did the only thing he could to save himself.

He resisted. As much as he could, he shook away from those grabbing hands and curled tighter into himself.

Mason couldn't see this heartbreaking scene any further. He racked his brain to think of a way to bring Levi back to his senses. However, his muscle memory worked faster than his thought process. By the time, he realised, he had already crouched low till his hands and feet were touching the ground. Then based on his previous experience, he started to hum the soothing tone that has earlier brought him back to present.

Though Levi seemed to be far-away engrossed in his nightmares, there were subtle changes occurring in him. And as Mason continued to hum for over several minutes, there was finally a noticeable improvement in Levi.

"Snowflake? Snowflake please. Please it's me. Mason."

"Snowflake please come back to us. Look, Lenny is here too. Your bubba is here. Please snowflake."

He is right now crawling on his hands and knees, trying to make himself look smaller so that Levi doesn't get intimidated.

Levi's trembling had stopped when Mason continued to hum. However, him calling 'snowflake' was the last straw to bring Levi back from whatever nightmares he was locked in.

There was something in the tone of Mason calling him 'snowflake'. It's not the word itself that held immense meaning in Levi rather the intense emotion with which the word is uttered by Mason, as though he is really fragile yet strong enough to not break easily. As though something precious to be protected and can be engrossed in its beauty.

Levi stopped in his mumbling to listen to the soothing voice coming from in front of him. His curled form also started to loosen up and he removed his head burrowed deep in his legs to tilt them in the direction of the voice.
