Chapter 16

Mason's attention drew towards Lenny's tear stained face. He saw how Lenart was trying to grasp Levi's arms, so he decided to keep his anger at bay. He thrusted the kid into Levi's frozen stature and warned him to look after him.

Mason then rushed to his office to contact their family doctor and asked them to come immediately to his office.

Levi noticed the anguish in the little kid's face. His own eyes watered and lips quivered. He blamed himself for bringing such misfortune on this cutie pie.

"S-sorry bubby. S-so sorry." Levi kissed on either cheeks and placed him on the counter. He carefully took the arms to notice the damage done. Thankfully, only few drops of coffee had spilled which still gave red blotches on the chubby arms.

While Levi ran cold water over the burnt areas and brought him back to the office room, Mason was shaking in nerves and pacing around rapidly. When he noticed Lenart, he scurried to lift him up.

Lenny's wails had subsided yet his tears were still running as waterfall. He buried his face in his uncle's neck before rubbing his face in his uncle's shirt.

"Ssh... Mere chaand... Everything will be alright chandu...." Mason bounced his son while pacing and eagerly waited for the doctor's arrival.

Levi on the other hand wrung his hands together, unable to understand what to do. He was moved to the corner so as not to come in the path of Mason's anxious pacing. His lips were quivering and he was an inch away from crying himself.

Soon the doctor came and examined. Thankfully it was only certain areas that was spilled with hot coffee. So doctor applied soothing cream and left it to dry. All the while Lenny wailed pitifully further breaking the two elder's heart. Levi was no long controlling his tears and even Mason was sniffing.

"Ahm. It's done sweetie. Here candy for such a good boy."

Lenny took the candy still sniffing but stopped crying. The doctor then informed the others that even if the burns weren't severe, its better to apply cream once every four hours. Also that the kid was crying because he was scared more than coz of pain.

"Mason, did you realize that your kid has actually made some noise?"

"Huh? Wha-what?"

"His voice. Lenart was crying aloud. His voice croaked due to lack of uttering a noise earlier. This shows that his vocal chords are fine. Also he might not be able to use much words for now as well his voice might be different than other other normal kids for now."

"Oh." Mason was shocked. He hadn't realized that his son actually cried out loud. Lenny was able to make some noise.

Mason's eyes were now filled with happy tears. He had believed his son to be mute but that wasn't the case! He was happy. He pecked his son still resting in his arms.

Lenny garbled few sentences as though he was annoyed with his uncle. Then he made grabby hands to Levi. Mason looked at Levi noticing just now how much this situation affected him too.

For God's sake. He is crying!!!

Levi came to lift the cute kid in his arms. He gave a long peck on his cheek before hugging him tightly to his chest. He still shed some more tears but was content with the manner Lenart had rested his cheek on Levi's face to look at his uncle and the doc.

Mason silently watched the scene unfold before him. He was filled with mixed emotions ranging from anger to sorrow. He couldn't grasp onto a single one.

There was a hand placed on his shoulder driving his attention to which he noticed it was the doctor. He gave a short nod indicating he was actually listening.
