**Chapter Three**
The flight seemed to go by quickly even though it was 6 hours. I had taken a 2 hour nap, but the rest of the time I spent listening to music. Personally I listen to just about every kind of music, but I do have many favorites like The Killers, Adele, Coldplay, Mumford & Sons, The Script, Ed Sheeran... the list is almost endless. I was thankful for my musical talents every day, even when I was too nervous to show them off to the world. I could play multiple instruments, sing multiple pitches in different tones, but I could also write music that came to me out of the blue. Sure, I couldn't read music to save my life, but it was still nice to know how easy it was for me to pick up on it.
As the flight attendant announced that we were landing in 5 minutes, a wide smile appeared on my face as one of my favorite songs by The Killers flashed onto the screen of my phone: Glamorous Indie Rock and Roll.
Glamorous
Indie rock and roll is what I need.
It's in my soul,
it's what I need.
Indie rock and roll,
it's time."
What a great way to end an adventure... or start a new one in this case.
The plane slowly started distending towards the runway, coming to an abrupt stop as it reached its destination: the Seattle Airport. It was quite dark out since it was about midnight in Seattle when we landed, 3 hours behind Florida. However, you could see the bright lights of the city shining vibrantly against the night sky with such beauty, it wasn't anything like the tropical Florida scenery.
As I departed the plane and started walking down the terminal towards the service center, a man holding a sign caught my eye.
The man holding the board looked like a stereotypical limo driver, but that wasn't what I was curious about. It was the dry erase board with my name straight across the center that compelled me to walk towards him.
"Are you Miss Lyon?" He asked politely in his deep masculine tone.
"Y-yes, I am." I managed to slip out.
"My name is Jeffrey, Mrs. McBride sent me to drive you to your hotel for the evening and then pick you up around 8am to take you to the office." He stated as he took my things and carried them out of the airport as I followed close behind. He slid them into the trunk of his black town cab and opened the door for me to get into the back seat. Though I was very hesitant, I was too tired to object.
The ride to the hotel as well as the hotel check-in itself seemed to only be a blur due to my immense exhaustion. After all, I had been awake for almost 24 hours, aside from my nap on the plane. However, the hotel was quite nice, nicer than any hotel I've ever stayed at.
I remember getting to my room and falling flat on the bed, instantly in a deep sleep. Before I knew it, my eyes had shot open to the sound of an alarm: 7:40am. My stomach was now caught in my throat: I was about to find out exactly what it was that I had traveled across the country to retrieve.
~~~~~~~~~~~
The car had pulled up to a building standing high above the small businesses in the small downtown area of Seattle, right on the outskirts of the bigger portion of the city . As I stepped out, Jeffrey swiftly led me through the doors and into a small compact waiting room which happened to be empty.
"She'll be with you in just a moment, I'll let her know you're here." Jeffrey stated quickly before disappearing out of the double doors leading to the cubicals within the building. I never even caught the name of the building, but it looked like a governmental operation of some sort.
Within minutes of Jeffrey leaving me, the glowing face of Mrs. McBride walked through, directing me through the double doors and into a large office space that I presumed was her office.
"Have a seat dear, this won't take too long." She smiled vibrantly.
I sat, but didn't utter a word. This was it, what I had been waiting for. But I never expected what she said next.
"Erin, according to your fathers Will, he wanted you to receive his financial earnings over the years in which he saved up, no matter what the amount was. This rarely ever happens, but due to the interest rate on the amount of money saved, you've ended up with a plentiful fortune my dear... if you are willing to accept it." Mrs. McBride said in a tone that seemed quite questioning.
"H-how m-much money, exactly?" I croaked out. It couldn't be that much, from what I knew of my father. He was a simple man, not a rich business owner. What did she mean by 'plentiful fortune'? Maybe a few thousand? Just enough for college? Either way, curiosity and anticipation rocked me to the very core of my being.
Mrs. McBride hesitated for a moment before almost whispering her reply.
"1.3 billion dollars, Erin... 12 years of interest rates increasing the value over time. After all, it had sat for the whole duration of those 12 years. I have no idea what it was before, but your father sure had your well-being in mind when he put your name in his Will. Let's get this paperwork done and filed so you can get your new bank account information and your new bank card and have you on your way back home in no time!"
I had stopped listening after the first statement: $1.3 billion.
I had continued to sign papers and read information sheets, though all of it just went by without my full attention. After hearing that you just inherited $1.3 billion, you'd stop focusing as well.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Okay Erin, all the paperwork is in order, proper identification has been shown... However! A fair bit of wise advice dear: don't flaunt your new wealth, and don't let anyone get their hands on the PIN to this card! That's trouble waiting to happen." Mrs. McBride shouts sternly, waving the metallic bank card in front of my face and handed it to me. She was an older woman, probably mid-40's, but she had so much wisdom. I knew I had to take her advice though; she was right after all. One thing you should never play with is money.
As I left the building to return to the hotel and collect my things, I had called Sara to let her know I was coming home and that I'd explain when I got there. Sara being the way she is had read my mind again and told Jessica I was staying the night another night, so she wouldn't know a thing. It was best if she didn't know until after I moved out, otherwise things could go badly.
"I can't wait to see you! It's only been a day and I'm already dying without you! When should your flight be getting in?" Sara asked eagerly.
"Around 9:30pm Florida time probably. Mrs. McBride told me the flight back was at 12:30pm Seattle time and it takes 6 hours. Coming to pick me up at 9:30?" I replied calmly. I had to hide my excitement so she wouldn't assume anything. I just couldn't help but think about one thing:
I became a billionaire for my 18th birthday. In less than 24 hours.

Hello again my darlings! I know, it still seems boring, however the next chapter things will start to pick up. Expect a longer chapter coming up! Also, I know the likeliness of this happening to someone is almost impossible, however it's how my dream happened! What did you think it was that she was inheriting? ;)
Promoted song this chapter is...
3 A.M. by Matchbox Twenty
I know, Matchbox Twenty is "old" but it's still good! I love their old stuff! Though, I do like their song She's So Mean. It's quite good even for their new stuff... so what do you think? :)
Love always,
Ela ♥
