**Chapter Thirty-Three**
•Erin's POV•
"C'mon now. How much was the investment you made with Modest? It's a simple question." Liam asked again, obviously persistent in receiving an answer.
I honestly wasn't sure how to tell him. I wasn't even really sure how they found out, but I was very sure Paige had something to do with it. She obviously didn't just tell them out of the blue, but I still never imagined having to explain this to everyone. This was something that could ruin my entire plan.
And yet, I still felt as if my plan had many faults as it is. Leaving wasn't something I had set on my heart to actually do. But, I always knew this time would come. Even when I was little I knew I would one day follow in my mother's footsteps as she had followed her mother's when she left my father. It was bound to happen, even if it was before marriage.
"Liam, this isn't a conversation we should be having in front of everyone else. Can we talk privately?" I ask genuinely, hoping for an answer that will be in my favor. However, this time I can tell he is less than willing to make this easy for me.
"No, I think everyone needs to hear this. After all, it does effect all of us." He stated, sitting down on the corner of the bed. Zayn and Louis were desperately trying to catch his attention to help me in some way, but he was definitely less than interested.
This was it.
"Um... I had to- before the tour started...." I stumbled with my words worse than I can ever recall doing in my entire life. Not knowing how to explain myself, I give up and I tell them everything. I tell them about the $10 million that I had invested in One Direction's management, as well as the $3 million invested in merchandising, equipment, and product development. I explained to them that there were changes that management wanted to make that I didn't agree with, and that I used my skills as well as the $13 million as a cushion to keep management at bay. And I even admitted that up to this point, the plan was working.
"But what exactly were the changes they wanted to make? You couldn't have asked us if-" Liam began, but I was finished with his attitude.
"So I needed to discuss with you the idea of allowing them to decrease your interaction with fans even more as well as decrease solos on albums for Louis and Zayn? Or turning down the volume on Niall's microphone during concerts and album recordings? Or even how they wanted you and Harry to remain single for the next tour so the fans remained "interested" in your band? That was something you really wanted to deal with yourselves? I took the bullet for all of you, and all you can do is complain about what I haven't done. You don't even know the half of it, Liam." I began to shout, noticing the looks on everyone's faces turning from shock to admiration. I knew they had recognized all of the things I had done for them, but up until now they didn't even realize there was more.
"I still think that it would have been nice if-" Liam started again, but this time I wasn't the one to cut him off.
"Liam, stop being a git and think about what you're saying to your girlfriend before you open your mouth! She wouldn't even still be your girlfriend if she hadn't done something to stop management. Hell, we probably wouldn't even be a band anymore if it wasn't for her." Zayn shouted, finally joining us in a conversation. Out of all of the people in the room that could have interrupted Liam, none of us expected it to be Zayn.
Once Liam realized the truth in his words he looked to me with apologetic eyes that only I had noticed, and quickly looked down at his feet.
"Listen, I'm leaving early tomorrow morning and I really am tired. And girls, you're all coming with me right?" I question, looking around the room receiving unsure stares. "Did I miss something?"
