**Chapter Twenty-Two**
•Liam's POV•
After yesterday, we had all decided to go to bed at my flat because of our traveling plans. After all, our flight was for 7:45am this morning, which is only an hour from now. Not to mention how desprately we were in need of a movie night together. I hadn't realized just how sepparated we had grown until Erin had pointed it out to me before we fell asleep.
We're all packed, simply waiting for Paul to pull around the front of my flat to pick all of us up and take us to the airport. Simon had sent his own private jet for our plane ride, rather than one of the company jets. Just that fact alone made my stomach churn; he never sent his own jet unless it was important... not even for us.
We hear a loud knock on the door as Zayn opened it to reveal a very tense Paul beckoning us to head out to the SUV. Obviously he was nervous as well; not only was he in charge of looking out for us when I left without telling anyone, but he had also grown quite fond of Erin while she's been with us. Even before when he came with us to Erin's house in Florida, they talked whenever he was around.
My biggest fear, as I quickly realized, was managements disapproval of Erin. In my eyes, she was absolutely perfect; kind, intelligent, affectionate, funny.... but I'm sure if I didn't know her and simply ran into her on the streets, she'd seem just like everyone else. Ordinary. However there were some things about Erin that definitely WEREN'T ordinary, specifically one very special thing.
No matter where Erin is or what she's doing, she radiates love and happiness in a way that is completely impeccable. She simply enters a room and it becomes brighter before she even says a word. That is something that none of us had ever witnessed before until we met Erin. And if management can't see all of her qualities, then I don't even want to imagine why they would want to talk to her today.
As soon as we arrived at the airport, we could see Simon's private jet sitting at the beginning of one of the smaller London runways. When we stepped out of the SUV with our luggage, we realized that there was a reason they had sent Simon's jet rather than a typical company jet.
Standing at the bottom of the boarding steps was Simon Cowell himself, straight faced and a little stressed out by the looks of it. He had come personally to talk to us rather than sending one of the record label's representatives.
"Hey lads, ready to go? We have a lot to discuss." Simon says sternly. Sure, Simon was like an uncle to us all, but he knew when he had to get down to business. He could be fun and games a good majority of the time, but apparently this matter was serious.
As we got on the jet and waited for it to take off before moving out of our seats, I thought about Erin again. What would I do if they blamed all of this on her and made her leave the tour? I don't think I could live knowing my actions affected the relationship we have now, especially in such a drastic way.
As soon as we were up in the air, Simon called us all over to the extended booth he was sitting in so we could all sit and chat. As I glanced over at Erin I could feel the nervousness emanating from her; her features were covered with concern and anxiety. I reached for her hand and squeezed it gently, staring into her beautiful blue eyes with a reassuring smile. Everything was going to be fine, even if the news was bad; I would make sure of that.
"Okay so your tour is starting back up in Verona, Italy. After that you're going through Venice, Florence, and Naples within the next two to three weeks. But that's not the problem." Simon states, letting out a loud sigh.
"The problem is, since Liam decided to go on his little 72 hour spree, I didn't know when he was returning nor did I know where he went. So when I thought I had enough time to find you an opening act for your Italy portion of the tour - I didn't. Now we have less than 24 hours to find an opening act and I'm out of options. I have one final alternative which is practically your only choice." Simon states in a softer more concerned tone. He turns and looks directly at Erin. "Erin, from what Liam and the lads have said to me before, you can sing quite beautifully. Am I wrong?" He said, smiling at her softly now. I knew where this was going...
