**Chapter Thirty**
•Liam's POV•
Ever since that phone call, nothing has been the same between Erin and I. I mean, we haven't been arguing, but we haven't really been talking either. In fact, she hasn't really talked to anyone. But above that, she hasn't even slept properly. She barely eats, and even her skin is starting to look paler; almost sickly actually.
But I knew she wasn't sick. If she was sick she wouldn't be acting this way, and I knew that. Just like I knew she was lying to me that night after the phone call. And being that that was the first time she'd lied to me since I met her, aside from that terrible pregnancy joke she pulled on me with Louis, it hurt.
It hurt bad.
She had never lied to me before... so why now? What could he have said that made her so upset? And why wouldn't she tell any of us? I had even tried calling Simon myself to try to get him to tell me what was going on, but he only told me that it was something she had to tell me herself. She hadn't even told Paige, and after Erin's performance last night at the concert, I knew Paige was curious as well. If you know Erin, you know that she puts emotion into everything she does. And she does it with such passion, especially when it's something she loves.
And playing the song Gold Rush by Ed Sheeran, you would have thought she would have LOVED to express the love she had for that song. Niall and Harry would play that song for her backstage whenever she got nervous before the show.
But her performance was completely emotionless. And even the crowd knew that wasn't like her. They all assumed she was just sick that night.
Even sitting in the SUV right now while we're headed for Naples, she hasn't said a word. And with maybe 2 hours left of driving, I imagine it will stay that way up until we get to the hotel.
Glancing towards the passenger seat where Erin was, I could only make out the details of her face; her eyes were bloodshot and glossy, and she was definitely focused on a deep thought. Her arms were crossed and she had one headphone in while the other hung out of the large jacket she was wearing, which happened to be mine.
"So Erin, do you plan on talking to us anytime soon? Or are you just going to shut everyone out like you did when you found out your dad died." Paige asked bluntly from the back seat, breaking the silence. The tension in the SUV was so thick now, it was almost hard to breathe. And now I realize why Niall, Annabelle, Perrie, and Zayn didn't want to drive in our SUV.
But Erin just sat there and lowered her head, putting in the other headphone before directing her attention to the scenery outside her window. Glancing back at Paige though, she wasn't going to let it end that way.
Paige reached forward from behind Erin's seat and pulled her headphones out, causing Erin to turn around furiously. That was the first emotion she had expressed for the past 2 days.
"Erin, you CAN'T do this every time you get upset about something. Look at what you're doing to everyone! Harry and Niall are so worried about you they don't even know what to say. And look at Liam! I mean, hell! He hasn't slept properly either by the looks if it! He's a nervous wreck and you're the one causing it! You can't just shut us out, Erin. We're all in this together."
"NO, Paige. We are definitely NOT in this one together. This time, it's all on me, and I have a decision to make that no one else can make for me. And it HURTS, Paige. It hurts worse and worse every time I think about my options. You don't understand." Erin said, becoming quieter and quieter as she spoke. But that was when I finally opened my mouth. I couldn't take it anymore.
"Wait. YOU have a decision to make, Erin? When were you going to talk to me about it? I thought we always made decisions together. And now, even SIMON won't tell me what's going on." I said, tightening my grip on the steering wheel.
