Jade's POV
We arrived at the apartment and it was bigger and fancier than it appeared on the photos. With the expensive car and apartment, I doubt very much that she needed a roommate for financial reasons.
"Make yourself at home" Perrie said after putting my luggage on the floor. "We have to go down later so we can register your fingerprints so you won't need me every time to open the door. I'll give you a tour before you rest; come on." She said
"This is the living area with the dining room and open kitchen." She guided me through a hallway. "Here are the toilet and the utility room. Now let's go upstairs." We went up a beautiful spiral staircase. "We have three bedrooms; two of them are suites; one is mine and the other is yours, the other room is my studio. As you know, I'm a music student, so I have a lot of instruments and equipment. Don't worry, the walls are soundproof, so I can be blasting music on the inside and you wouldn't know. "
She showed me every corner of the house, leaving my room for last. She helped me with my luggage and left me to take a shower and rest. I slept it off to get rid of the tiredness, and when I woke up, it was dinner time.
"Hey, I ordered some pizza because I didn't know what kind of food you liked and I also don't know how to cook." Perrie said as I sat down on the living room couch with her.
"It's fine, I know how to cook, so we won't starve" I said with a laugh.
"That's great, my best friend, who is also my former roommate, did all the cooking before aside from breakfast. These past 3 weeks, I've been ordering food every day," she said, chuckling.
"Why did she move out?" I asked curiously.
"She went to live with her boyfriend, Andre."
"I don't want to intrude, but can I ask you something?"
"Of course"
"Why do you want a roommate? I mean, looking at your house and car, I assume you don't need the money, and also, what you asked for totally doesn't cover even 30% of the rent here." I asked, and she gave a slight pause before answering.
"You'll think it's stupid," she predicted.
"No I won't. Try me" I replied.
"The apartment is mine, so I don't pay rent. I have anxiety, and sometimes it gets bad with panic attacks and stuff. Leigh wouldn't move out until she knew that I would have someone with me. My family lives in South Shields, so it couldn't be any of them, and the other friends I have all have a place where they would like to stay. So I convinced Leigh that I would be ok if I had any roommate and that's when I started looking" she explained.
I was very surprised to hear that, as Perrie seemed very bubbly and outgoing. I wouldn't imagine she would have anxiety but often times it is the people that don't seem like it that struggles the most.
"That was sweet of her, tell her not to worry about it. If you need any help you have me now" I said with a warm smile
"Thanks Jade, that's nice of you" we smiled at each other and then the doorbell rang.
"It must be the pizza" Perrie said while standing up.
She put the pizza boxes on the coffee table and went to the kitchen to get plates for us. "What do you wanna watch?" She asked.
"Anything really, I don't mind" I replied.
"Come on, you're the guest of honor today. You have to use this privilege well because tomorrow you won't be a guest anymore" she said jokingly .
"Fine, but you'll probably regret that later" I said
"It can't be that bad, go on" she urged me to tell her
"Aladdin" I said"Are you kidding me? I love Disney, I have the whole collection." She opened a door under the tv stand that had a bunch of DVDs with all Disney movies.
"No way!" I said excitedly while running to inspect her collection. " I had one of these too but it would be too much work to bring them from Egypt"
"Well, now you have them again" she said happily.
We put the DVD on and watched and sang along the songs together. She had a wonderful voice, it was very strong and had a little rasp to it but it also could be soft and airy when she wanted to.
After the movie ended we kept talking until 2 am getting to know each other better and then finally went to sleep. I was really happy that Perrie was my roommate as I really saw us building a strong friendship.
