Kennedy Simmons

When we arrived at the club Archie was already there waiting for me. He was standing outside of his expensive car. He wore expensive clothes and his hair was brushed nearly and in general, he looked like a typical rich man.

When he saw me with Harry he frowned and Harry mimicked his reaction. "Seriously? That? Please!" Harry whispered to me. I couldn't understand why he reacted like that. Archie was a quite good-looking and kind guy. "You can criticize my taste in men later." Before he had the chance to speak I left and approached Archie.

"Hey, beautiful." he greeted me. "Hi!" We hugged and then he led me to his car. He got in the driver's seat and motioned me to get in the passenger seat. After I was in he started driving away.

"So, is he your boyfriend?" Archie asked. "Who? Harry? No. He's just a friend. Nothing more." Archie looked pretty satisfied with my answer. He smiled at me but then his face turned serious. "I don't think that hanging out with a man like that would be a good idea. I mean, he looks like he can kill people."

Yep. He can. He's also a drug smuggler.

"He's harmless," I said even though I knew that this wasn't true. Harry had made sure I knew he was anything but harmless. "I don't know, Kennedy. He doesn't look like a good man." I didn't say anything and thankfully he got the hint and changed the subject.

"So what are you doing here? In Vegas I mean."

I was kidnapped by the guy you met. He brought me here, he told me that he and his drug dealer friends wouldn't hurt me and now I'm leaving with them. Pretty cool, huh?

That was the truth but I obviously couldn't say that.

"I'm in search of a better life," I said. "Vegas is a good option. An extreme but also good one. There are many options here." he said with a smile. He didn't question me anymore. We stayed in silence while he drove.

Almost ten minutes later he stopped out at a super fancy restaurant. "We're going there?" I asked not quite believing it. "Yes. This is my favourite place and I think you'll love it."

Thank God my clothes aren't too casual!

We walked in and a waiter took us to the table. Then he gave us the menu and I started going through it. Honestly, I couldn't understand what most of those foods were but what surprised me the most was the prices.

Everything was way too expensive!

"Archie, everything here is too expensive." He chuckled a little and shook his head. "Yes, I know. But it deserves it. But try not to get used to it. I'm not going to bring you here every time. I don't want to waste all the money I have on you, sweetheart. Oh, by the way, this is on me."

Now I feel guilty.

Archie was always the type of guy that didn't want to spend money. He cared about the economy a lot. We had been together for a long time and he had never gotten me a present and most of the time I was the one paying when we got on dates. It may sound bad but I completely understand.

My whole life I had never had a lot of money. Actually I barely made it by. That's why I could understand why he didn't want to spend his money on anyone else except for himself. His family was really rich so he knew how to keep his money safe so that he would never have to be deprived of anything, unlike me.

I was thankful that he didn't ask me to pay this time because everything here was way too expensive and I couldn't afford it. I was also quite surprised. Maybe the fact that he was willing to spend so much for me meant that he still cared about me.
