The cobbled streets had to be my favourite part of the village. It matched perfectly with the traditional elements and made the whole scenery more calming and peaceful.
"Can't we just move here?" I was only half-joking. The idea of spending the rest of my life in this piece of heaven with Harry was extremely appealing to me. It sounded like a dream.
We could drop everything and move here but first we had to deal with some things.
Who was I trying to fool?
"Maybe one day. But first we have to make sure it's safe." He kissed the top of my head and gave me a small smile. "I promise I'll bring you here again. I can tell that you love it here and so do I."
Music was heard and as we approached the main square it became louder and louder. Traditional french songs were playing and they were accompanied with cheerful voices of people of various ages.
When we finally reached the square we were met with many people dancing, drinking, eating and laughing. They seemed to celebrate something big. I can't remember the last time I had seen so many people beeing so cheerful. Everyone was so happy that they somehow managed to make me happier too!
"Excuse me?" I asked an older woman. "What are you all celebrating?" Her face immediately lit up. "My birthday! I'm Nadine and I own that restaurant over there." She pointed towards a small traditional restaurant that was overcrowded. "It's my birthday today and I decided to have a party for everyone. You and your boyfriend can join us if you want to."
I gave Harry a look. He could tell that I wanted to stay and he nodded in agreement.
"Happy birthday, Nadine! We would love to stay! Thank you for your invitation." Nadine smiled brightly and took my hand. "Come on! I'll introduce you to everyone!"
First we stopped infront of a man. He looked a few years older than Nadine but he had the aura of a young child. "This is Jean, my husband. He doesn't speak English very well." Then she turned to her husband. "Jean, c'est..."
"Alexa."
"Harry."
The fact that I used my real name caught Harry's attention. He gave me a look but didn't say anything. He still wasn't used to my actual name and he thought it would be dangerous for me to use it but I think he was overreacting. It's not like the people who wanted to hurt us didn't already know it.
"Bonjour! C'est tellement agréable de vous rencontrer! Bienvenue dans notre village! Puis-je dire que vous formez un très beau couple!" Jean was just us cheerful and sweet as his wife and his smile was just as bright.
"Merci beaucoup!" I said and returned the smile. Before I had the chance to say anything else to the man Nadine dragged me away wanting to introduce me to the rest of the people here. Harry didn't leave my side for even a second. I could tell that he wasn't interested in meeting anyone but at the same time he was content because we were finally carefree, even if we both knew it wouldn't last for long.
I was currently talking with one of the guests. He was an older man, around seventy years old. He used to be a racer and later he trained people so of course we had a lot to talk about.
"Who trained you?" He asked. "Roddy Woods." The moment the name of that legend left my mouth his eyes widened and he gasped. "Roddy Woods! Ferrari!" I nodded and smiled. I got a warm feeling the moment I heard the name of the first person I ever considered a parent. He had truly been like a father to me. He had taken me under his wing when I had no one.
"He was a legend! May his soul rest in peace!" He placed his hards over his heart as he uttered his last words. "I'm surprised he didn't get you into the F1 Academy."
