"I don't think so." I rolled my eyes at Roman as he stood on the other side of the kitchen island.

"What like you're going to stop me?" I laughed and put my purse down on the side. I could feel someone presence behind me. I'd learned by now not to take these things lightly. I spun around and grabbed their throat tightly wrapping one hand around it.

"He's new Lennox. Let him go." I looked into the guys eyes and stared. I was a good deal shorter than him but I knew that was an advantage. He smirked at me and I let go. He rubbed his neck before walking around to Roman. "Lennox, Sonny."

"I don't like your face." I watched him closely hand Roman something without saying a word.

"Why not." So he speaks.

"Just don't." I looked at Roman "Where did dad find this guy?"

"Some family friend apparently."  I looked him up and down and scoffed.

"You're a lot stronger than you look you know?" Sonny smiled and I picked my bag up and turned.

" I know."

"You're not going out like that Lennox." I spun around in the middle of the room, sending my hair spinning with me.

"If you don't like this, you should see the things I wear when no ones here." I smirked at him and spun back around. "Bye Roman."  I could see him face palming as I walked out the door and that just made it even funnier. They all tried to tell me what I could and couldn't wear, Roman specifically, in an attempt to 'keep me safe'. That's what they said anyway. There was nothing to keep me safe from. People didn't bother me and I held my own a lot easier than the guys seemed to think.

I slipped into my porch and put the key in the ignition by the time Roman had caught up. He knocked gently on the window a smug smile plastered across his face.

"What?" I rolled the window down, my eyes following suit.

"Dad says get changed."

"Dad will call me if he has an issue." He smirked and sure enough my phone started ringing immediately. I shook my head at him and pushed my tongue into my cheek. "You're an ass." I wound the window up and reached over, grabbing my purse and pulling my phone from it.

"Hi Daddy."

"Lennox why is you're brother telling me you can't go out with what you're wearing?"

"He doesn't like my skirt." I sighed. I knew my way around this now. I don't know why Roman even tried.

"Which one is it?"

"The black leather one. I'm wearing a proper tee shirt and a cardigan though. I bet he didn't tell you that." He was still leaning against the front of my care watching me. I stuck my middle finger up at him and he laughed.

"Lennox-"

"Daddy, it's just a little party with the girls."

"I need you to be safe Lennox. At least let me send Sonny with you."

"I don't like him."

"Why not?" I could hear the sea wherever he was this week.

"I don't like his face." I sighed as Sonny walked and joined Roman in front of my car. "Daddy please?"

"What's this Roman said about you wearing worse things when no one's around." I'm going to actually kill him.

"Nothing daddy, he's being dramatic again. You know how Roman is."

"Who's going to this party?" I had him wrapped tightly now.

"Me, Sofia, Iris, Daisy and Lexie. Then there's some guys and some other people I don't know. It's only at Lex's house. And you know how her dad is about everything or you wouldn't let me go there. It's perfectly fine dad."

"I don't know Lennox. I'd feel better if I knew you had someone there to watch out for you."

"I can look out for myself dad. Did Roman tell you about Sonny before?"

"How you strangled our new employee on first introduction? Yeah he told me."

"Well I wasn't expecting him. That's what you taught me."

"Fine Lennox. Home by 3am."

"Thanks daddy. Love you see you soon" I smirked and hung up the phone, throwing it to the passenger seat and fastening my seatbelt. I wound the window down and Roman bobbed down to the right height so he could see me straight on.

"I don't know why you even bother pulling the dad card like I'm not his little princess and he's not wrapped around my finger."

"He's actually letting you leave like that. How do you even get him to agree to shit like this?" I smirked and ran my hand through my hair.

"I never give out my secrets. Now if you would both kindly get the fuck off my car I just had it cleaned. I don't need you're asses scuffing it." I gave an arsey smile and wound my window up as I turned on the ignition.

I don't understand why everyone still teaches me like I'm a teenager and not 23. I get it. I'm supposed to be the mafia's princess and everyone just wants me under their thumb. They still see me as an asset to them. A business deal. I wasn't marrying for business. Not after the last guy they wanted me to date.

He had been easy on the eyes I must admit that. Pretty easy to fall in love with him. If you can call what we had love. Toxic would be another word for it. A battle for control over the other. It had been 2 years of fighting to be on top. Our breakup was hard on the businesses more than it was me. Dad had been struggling to keep everything together between our 2 families since. And it was essential that they got along.

Disaster would ensue if they fell apart. and when we split, it was like we pulled the thread that started the unravelling. Dad had asked my dozen's of times to just forget what happened and move past it to keep us all together and moving forward. I laughed. Not worth it.

Never worth it with him.
