At the lake, I sighed, knowing I was about to be freezing my ass off for a short time, but enough to make me hate my life. Umi didn't help with her constant complaints about how the crew functions, but her being a teenager with a missing mom, I let it slide. For a little bit, anyways.
"Oh my god, Umi, enough!" I finally grunted, throwing my head back. Usopp, Zoro, Robin, and Luffy had all made it to the middle of the lake just fine without me, as expected, but Umi was annoyed that we had to depend on them at all.
"They're just humans," She mutters. "I just don't understand why you don't ride the water over to the other side."
"Because I don't know how," I admit sheepishly.
"Seriously?" She laughs loudly with a small snort at the end. "That's so stupid. You took over the position of Goddess and can't even control water at will?"
"Alright, Smartass, go ahead and show me how it's done." She huffs with a flick of her wrist, water surrounding her arm immediately. I roll my eyes and watch as she bounces it from hand to hand effortlessly.
"Easy."
"Then take me across the water."
"What?" She bellows. "You weigh like seven hundred pounds!"
"I do not, you Ass! Just-" I pinch the bridge of my nose in annoyance. "Take me across the lake so I can score us some clothes." She rolls her eyes, but without any other argument, she begins to raise the water around us and drags our bodies to be atop the surface quickly. I watch the boat shaped like a banana sink under the water ahead of us and I knew that the crew would be fine, but I still felt a ball in my gut of fear that they wouldn't surface.
"We're here." I snap my head in the direction of the Centaurs when Umi speaks and swallow thickly, hand on my sword as the cold air nipped and bit at my bare skin.
"Would you like a coat, Umi?" I ask with my eyes on my own goal of clothing.
"I suppose one wouldn't hurt," She answers quietly. I smiled softly and nodded, letting her point to one with white and black polka dots for herself. I rush forward, slicing through the opponents that wore our desired clothing, and tossed the coat to Umi before slipping on my own. The dark purple and black suited me well. I huffed, seeing Luffy and the others had already made it from the water to the side with us on it.
"May!" Luffy beams as soon as the red and white-colored coat were on him warmly. "Who's your friend?"
"This is Umi. She's Oceania's daughter." I feel his arm wrap around me once in a full circle before he tilts his head at Umi.
"Are you magical, too?" I smiled gently at his question but Umi was obviously not entertained by it.
"Shut up," She mutters in annoyance.
"Anyways, Let's get a ride from Brown Beard over here, yeah?" I jut my thumb over my shoulder at the man that now bore the legs of a crocodile. The giant being frowned at the mention of the idea, but that didn't stop us from doing as planned.
"Are you guys always this reckless?" Umi questions with slight irritation. I laugh at her tone and shrug while lending out a hand for her to climb atop the crocodile's back.
"Mostly, yeah!" She sighs and grabs my hand nonetheless and takes a seat next to Zoro. The swordsman gives her a glance and then scoots away to give her more space. Yeah, those two might get along well. I climb to the top of the man's head where Luffy was already waiting for me.
"This is awesome!" Luffy shouts happily. I smile at the scene and nod in agreement.
"For now, yeah."
"What do you mean?" He pouts while looking at me.
