"God could not be everywhere, and therefore he made mothers." - Rudyard Kipling
Lily and I were busily packing out our clothes and decorating our new dorm room. It was our first day at college and we were both excited and a little nervous. Lily had already put up some fairy lights and posters of her favorite bands, while I had arranged some succulent plants on the windowsill.
"Wow, this place is starting to look great!" Lily exclaimed as she finished hanging up a new tapestry.
"I know right! I can't believe we're actually here," I replied, beaming with excitement.
As we continued decorating, we talked about our schedules for the upcoming week and what we were looking forward to the most. We were both excited about making new friends and exploring campus, but we were also a little scared about the challenges that lay ahead.
After finishing up our decorating, we decided to get ready for dinner with our moms. We put on our nicest clothes and did each other's hair and makeup. As we got dressed, we talked about our hopes and fears for the year ahead.
"I'm just really nervous about making friends," Lily confessed.
"I know, me too. But we'll be okay. We've got each other," I reassured her.
We finished getting ready and just as we were about to leave, Mrs. Smith called to tell us that they were waiting for us outside of Saffira Hall. We hurried down and climbed into the car, excited to see our moms.
On the way to Jasmine's, we chatted about our moms' college experiences. They told us stories about parties they attended, boyfriends they had, and the challenges they faced in school. Lily and I listened intently, fascinated by their stories.
When we arrived at Jasmine's, we were surprised by how fancy it was. The place was packed with people, but the waitress was kind enough to find us an open booth in the back away from all the noise. The waitress, Anna, told us that they had a cheeseburger special.
After ordering our food and drinks, we continued to chat with our moms. They shared more stories about their college days and we were grateful to have this time to bond with them.
When our food arrived, we all dug in eagerly. The cheeseburgers were delicious and we ate mostly in silence, savoring every bite.
After finishing our meal, we thanked the waitress and paid the bill. Our moms drove us back to our dorm, and we hugged and said goodnight outside of Saffira Hall.
As we walked back to our room, Lily suggested we watch a movie. I agreed and picked out Avatar 2. The movie was amazing, with stunning special effects and an exciting plot. We snuggled up on the couch under a blanket and watched until we both drifted off to sleep.
Overall, it had been an exciting day .We had decorated our room, bonded with our moms, and watched an amazing movie. We couldn't wait to see what the rest of the year had in store for us.
