Chapter 5 - Sports

After the class is done I ask William if he would like to join Lily and I for lunch. He agrees. I send Lily a quick message telling her that I am brining company.

We walk to Jasmine's diner and he asks me to tell him more about Lily.

"She is honestly one of the greatest people I know, she is like a sister to me. She might look intimidating but she is just the sweetest. She is someone who would sacrifice her own happiness for someone else. She is one of the main reasons that I am who I am" I tell him. "Wow" he mummers. We walk in silence for the next few minutes and reach the diner.

I see Lily standing outside and hug her. I introduce her to William. 

We walk into the diner and a waiter escorts us to our table. 

As we sat down at the table, we order some drinks and food. We chit chat about Grey college before Lily turns to William and asks, "So, do you play any sports?"

William chuckled. "Yes, I play football and I follow sports quite closely."

"Oh, cool," Lily said, nodding. "I've never really been into sports, but I do like to keep up with the local teams. How's our  football team doing this year?"

"They're doing really well, actually," William said. "We've got a new captain, and he's really been motivating the team. Plus, we've got some really talented players this year."

"That's awesome," I said. "Who's the captain?"

"His name is Luca," William said. "He's in his second year, and he's been playing for the team since his freshman year. He's a great leader on and off the field."

Lily nodded. "That's really impressive. I always admire people who are able to balance schoolwork and sports."

William grinned. "Yeah, it's definitely not easy. But Luca is really dedicated. He's always at practice, and he's constantly working on his game."

"I bet he's a great role model for the rest of the team," I said.

"He definitely is," William agreed. "He's always pushing us to do better, both on and off the field."

Lily took a sip of her drink. "So, how do you think the team will do this season?"

"I'm pretty confident that we'll do well," William said. "We've got some tough games coming up, but I think we're up for the challenge. And with Luca as our captain, I know we can accomplish anything."

"That's really inspiring," Lily said, smiling. "I might have to come to one of your games and cheer you guys on."

"You definitely should," William said, grinning. "It's always great to have support from the stands."

As we continued to chat about sports and other topics, I couldn't help but feel grateful that William had agreed to join us for lunch. Not only was he a great conversationalist, but he also seemed to have a genuine interest in getting to know us better. And as I looked across the table at Lily and William, laughing and joking together, I couldn't help but think that this was the start of a beautiful friendship.
